"You would do the same thing" or "we all do it."
Talk about projecting one's moral computation upon another. I recognize the "based on evidence and experience" angle but you shouldn't do it because you just may be talking to someone who doesn't share the same point of view. Painting someone with a brush that doesn't apply to another person is insulting. It's even cynical. And being a cynic is very easy.
I especially hate hearing it on talk shows on TV and radio.
It drives me bongy bongo.
If you use these phrases just stop doing it.
"At the end of the day..."
ReplyDelete"And so it goes..."
"yadda yadda yadda"
"Stupid is as stupid does"
"That's just how I [or "we"] roll."
"Whatever..."
And just about every other catch phrase ever voiced or written.
