Bullies

Democrats.

Surprised?

"Democrats are telling voters that they had better head to the polls — or else.

The New York State Democratic Committee is bullying people into voting next week with intimidating letters warning that it can easily find out which slackers fail to cast a ballot next Tuesday.
“Who you vote for is your secret. But whether or not you vote is public record,” the letter says.

“We will be reviewing voting records . . . to determine whether you joined your neighbors who voted in 2014.”

Jacobins. Only friendlier and for 'democracy'.

Fall Of The West Reason 4585858666659595

You can't hide from the PC Police. Ever.

Take Halloween:

"Several universities have recently admonished their students not to wear a variety of costumes for Halloween that could potentially offend people, frighten people, or reinforce stereotypes.

At the University of Wisconsin-Madison, for example, some students were warned against donning a Hannibal Lecter-inspired straightjacket costume because it’s offensive to people who struggle with a mental illness...."

 "WEARING A HISTORICAL COSTUME?
Ask yourself: If the costume is meant to be historical, does it further misinformation or historical and cultural inaccuracies? The “Indian” get-up prevails each year as culture-turned-costume. But did you know few Native Americans wore buckskin and headbands and even fewer wore them together? Did you know “war paint” and feathers carry religious meaning and were never worn by Native American children?

WEARING A “BEAUTIFUL” COSTUME?

Ask yourself: If the costume is meant to be beautiful, are these characteristics drawn from commercial references, such as movie characters? Too often, beautiful at Halloween means white, blonde, princess masks. What statement does your Halloween costume make about what constitutes beauty — and about who is beautiful and who isn’t?"

People who run North American university campuses, I'm now convinced, are mentally remedial.

Maine: This Is Getting Irrational

I think, just my impression, but I think people are losing their minds a tad too much when it comes to ebola.

Why, it's almost as if they're irrational.

Conservatives in particular are carrying the torch on this one in the case of Traci Hickox who is being quarantined by the state of Maine.

Problem? She is neither sick or contagious with a disease that is difficult to transmit. Hickox just came back from Africa working with Doctor Without Borders and, well, just for that she's being quarantined against her will. Conservatives are in over drive calling her, among other things, a narcissist and egoist 'who doesn't understand the concept of the greater good'.

Naturally, rather than just take the rational route, Governor LePage will 'seek force' to impose the state's will on her.

Nice.

Oh, why can't she just shut up and be responsible even though she's fine?!

Let's just chalk this one up for the terrorists.

Robot Overlords

Stat Of The Day

World debt 331% of GDP.

“Increasingly, ‘debt’ is seen as a dirty word,” the ING research team said in a report released this week. “But in most cases, it should not be. Perhaps it is no coincidence that the rise of U.S. indebtedness coincided with improvements in technology and the globalization of trade, human labor and finance. Computers allowed for speedier processing and better and more transparent access to credit risk data.”

“Debt can become dirty when the rise of debt service costs exceeds income and a borrower’s long-term ability to make payments and often when rapid growth of debt and/or lack of adequate transparency disguises creditworthiness issues,” they write."

Nice sugar-coating.

It's too high.

Justin Trudeau Hates Families; NDP Insanity

Yes. This will end well. Because it's been such a raging success in Quebec. Let's replicate this corrupt, inefficient, and utterly mediocre program nationally.

Green Islam

This is new.

"See, honey. Why can't you come up with new spins on things?"

"...Seyyed Hossein Nasr, a professor of Islamic studies at George Washington University, believes Islam is more disposed toward environmental stewardship than other faiths, and should probably be regarded as the "green" religion.

Ah. So we're clear he doesn't mean 'green' with envy, right?

Oh Lord, don't give Obama any ideas!

At the same time, he allows that Islamic governments have often put economic progress ahead of the environment, and many Islamic societies expect the West to find some technological solution to the woes of the planet.

Duh

Still, as Nasr told CBC Radio One's IDEAS, "Christianity in the West has had a tremendous problem: how to come to terms with the environment at a time when its most devout followers have not shown much interest in the environment."

What the fuck does that even mean

Yeah, yeah. We get it. Christianity is always bad. Very bad. Out cutting off heads, strapping bombs to belts, running corrupt, backward kleptocracies, and stoning women for adultery.

Martha Coakley Is Pure Evil

This breathlessly evil cunt is still on the Massachusetts political scene and that people would consider voting for her despite knowingly destroying an innocent family only points to their own depraved moral compass.

Look up Fall Acres Daycare.

Read about the evil destruction she heaped upon an innocent family.

Old Versus New World

The Uber (and Lyft) wars versus established taxi services is fascinating. It shows us in the flesh how entrenched interests - especially those with monopolies - don't like competition and will do everything in their power to destroy it.

If they can't ruin modern alternatives to transportation like Uber, they'll try to regulate and tax the crap out of it. Or as we see here in Philadelphia, impound the cars.

For the children.

These people are too funny.

It's a sickening display of self-entitled nonsense from a service industry too afraid to evolve and compete.

It's no wonder bringing education into the 21st century has been met with such resistance. Unions take their orders from Top Men. Not innovation and technology. Nope. People who think outside the box are the enemy.

The writing is on the wall indeed but in the meantime they (bureaucrats and unions) will make things a living hell for an innovative service people want and need.

For our safety.

Just food for thought.

  1. Unification of Greater Germany (Austria + Germany)
  2. Land + expansion
  3. Anti-Versailles - abrogation of the Treaty.
  4. Land and territory - lebensraum.
  5. Only a "member of the race" can be a citizen.
  6. Anti-semitism - No Jew can be a member of the race.
  7. Anti-foreigner - only citizens can live in Germany.
  8. No immigration - ref. to Jews fleeing pograms.
  9. Everyone must work.
  10. Abolition of unearned income - "no rent-slavery".
  11. Nationalisation of industry
  12. Divison of profits
  13. Extension of old age welfare.
  14. Land reform

Food Nazis On The Rise

Well, I guess I can scratch Minneapolis off my list of cities I'd ever live in.

Jesus, what the heck is this crap?

"...A law on the books, which voters may very well repeal next month, requires restaurants to prove that food sales make up at least 70 percent of their total food and beverage sales. The law also bans restaurants from serving alcohol to customers who are waiting for a table in the restaurant.

Earlier this year, the city council adopted a City Healthy Food Policy that mandates "healthful food in vending machines, in city cafeterias and at meetings with city-funded food."

The vote was by no means unanimous.

"I'm a little bit mortified that we have a whole staff team that spent god-knows-how-many hours talking about whether or not there could be carrots in a vending machine," said councilwoman Lisa Goodman.

These silly laws hardly appear to be outliers in the city. After all, Minneapolis was the first city in the country to adopt a law, the Staple Foods Ordinance, that requires many small stores—including convenience stores and gas stations—to stock fresh produce and other "healthy" foods. The city adopted these rules in 2008. Violators face fines of $200.

"Now," reports the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, "city officials are looking to double down on their efforts."

Frightening stuff. I'd like to add that people don't go to pharmacies or fricken Dollar Stoes to buy fresh produce. A pharmacy is a pharmacy. It's not their area of expertise and I wouldn't buy from one who is coerced into doing it because they're love is not into it. Why burden businesses with stupidity outside their expertise?

Changing such buying habits isn't easy to alter.

It's retarded policy made by retarded people that's why. People with no business abilities or skills along with ignorant fear-mongering notions of healthy food have the power and we're stuck with these idiots.

Alas, it's not like I haven't warned that the next war would be on healthy food.

We all knew that was coming. Dumbass bureaucrats and interventionists who know jack shit and squat about food were bound to cram it down the throat of others.

We're not that far off from a motion by a politicians demanding private citizens buy and prove they buy healthy foods.

Laugh. Go ahead. It's coming. That along with subsidized healthy foods.

Laugh.

We're just not on a good trajectory on this continent.

Bill C-36 Anti-Prostitution Laws

Every once in a while Canada likes to assault the Charter. And so it is with Bill C-36.

What part of 'voluntary adults entering a contract in mutual consent' don't people get?

What a confused piece of draconian legislation the Conservatives have presented. On social policy, Harper's conservatives worry me a tad.

It's straightforward. If two people want to have sex and exchange money for it how does that ruin your life? It's an act that's going to happen anyway so why in the world do the conservatives want to take the antiquated position of punishing it? It deprives prostitutes sex workers the right to a living.

Still better than the USA but unfortunate nonetheless. The USA has obscene laws on its books that having nothing to do with liberty. Alcohol, sex and drugs first among them. In the USA, somehow it's been deemed okay for law enforcement agencies like the DEA to bang down doors without warrants to catch druggies often killing and imprisoning a bunch of folks - sometimes wrongfully - in the process ruining (sometimes innocent) lives and families in the process. Real 'normal'.

Go catch REAL bad people guys.

Queen Victoria

Distractions, Distractions, Distractions

One benefit of watching The A-Team growing up in the 80s was the useful tactic of distraction to divide and conquer to overcome your enemy.

Every ploy devised by them was based on a distraction.

Government is awesome at this. By design or otherwise. Take the CDC admitting they were taken 'by surprise' by ebola. Now. You would think one of the most quoted government agencies in the American bureaucratic kingdom would sort of kinda be on the ball for such things. But, alas, as we've seen with FEMA, and now the VA and Secret Service as we've discovered (and some would add the Presidency itself),  hacks and incompetent people who shouldn't be running such agencies consistently and spectacularly fail when a crisis hits them.

Canada hasn't been tested all that much so it would be interesting to see the level of preparedness this country has on a constant basis. I'm guessing marginally better - if at all - than the USA. Just guessing. They didn't look overly organized the other day and it was thanks to one awesome guy - Sgt. at Arms Kevin Vickers - who may as well come out of a comic book there wasn't more bloodshed.

Anyway. It is true we've become so obsessed at micro-managing people's lives we forget the whole purpose of what the mandate of these agencies originally were. Hint: They were not about sugary drinks. Alas, as we've seen, all government bureaucracies expand their duties - called mission drift - usually entering the private realm and attacking private choices. Government agencies NEVER stick to their original mission. EVER. That's why I never believe them when they say 'Oh no, it would never go "there' when we all know 'there' is the end game'.

Someone has to justify their jobs, right?

B-b-but, T.C.! Things change! Change demands more governance!

Laugh. Call me Dale Gribble. I don't care none.

Remember two summers ago it looked like every kid was drowning in backyard swimming pools? People were losing their minds. Talking heads on the radio were talking about permits for swimming pools, stringent measures for fences, one clown even wondered if we should have pools at all (Yes, yes. The 'who needs a big house?!" and 'no one needs that much money!' shrill pseudo-intellectual theory).

This year? Not ONE report.

Rational thought demands patience and thoughtful reflection. Not emotional responses and appeals to authority.

You can't observe an outlier event - e.g. terrorist attack - and go straight to demanding gun control that affects thousands upon thousands of law-abiding people when the statistics simply don't back up such a measure. It's irrational.

Yet guess what the narrative is in the aftermath of Ottawa? More powers to the government and gun policy.

Distractions.

Most Famous Street In Montreal

I was just reading a study commissioned by the city of Montreal which cost $35 000 - $15 000 of it unaccounted for - determining which are the most famous streets in Montreal.

St. Paul? No. St. Catherine? Nope. Park ave.? Na-uh. St. Laurent and St. Denis? Pft. Crescent st.? To tourists sure but no. Peel? Not since the Murray's disappeared big guy. Atwater? Sherbrooke st.? Move along. Lacordaire, Cote-St-Luc, Queen Mary, Pie-IX, Viau, Langelier and Jean-Talon? Ok, now I'm stretching it.

So what street is the most famous in Montreal?

Rue Barre.

Moving Picture

The Americans: Always There

I've always shared this perspective about the United States and never could quite understand the vile and parochial streak of anti-Americanism that surfaces from time to time here. It's absurd and ignorant and only points straight to our own insecurities. Taking an anti-American stance doesn't prop up Canadian pride. It represses and demeans it. I can't see how anyone could see it otherwise.

I remember hearing this on Montreal radio back in the 1980s when Gord Sinclair was working at CJAD radio:

Now, in fairness. I'd like to think, of all nations, Canada would step in and offer a hand as we did on 9/11 and even during Katrina.

Nonetheless, Sinclair's point stands. The United States has done much of the heavy lifting in the world.

The media seems fixated on the word 'long-gun'.

Then I remembered. Of course. They're setting it up to go after Harper's decision for abolishing the long-form gun registry and by extension for being a puppet of the USA by committing troops in the fight against ISIS.

Both idiotic and insane notions but this is what's being said on the CBC threads and won't be long will be the main narrative.

Not that we have native citizens being radicalized and that maybe we should be focusing on Wahhibist Imams indoctrinating people on our soil.

Gates' Derp

Bill Gates has a solution for income inequality.

Oh, look. More taxes! But not just any tax but a consumption tax!

"Consider a family that spends $10 million a year and is deciding whether to add a $2 million wing to its mansion. If the top marginal tax rate on consumption were 100 percent, the project would cost $4 million. The additional tax payment would reduce the federal deficit by $2 million. Alternatively, the family could scale back, building only a $1 million addition. Then it would pay $1 million in additional tax and could deposit $2 million in savings. The federal deficit would fall by $1 million, and the additional savings would stimulate investment, promoting growth. Either way, the nation would come out ahead with no real sacrifice required of the wealthy family, because when all build larger houses, the result is merely to redefine what constitutes acceptable housing. With a consumption tax in place, most neighbors would also scale back the new wings on their mansions."

If you believe this, then you can't be helped.

It's become tedious listening to people who made a fortune ponder and muse about social issues outside their areas of expertise.

Tiresome.

Let's get one thing clear. Rich folks like Gates have zero intentions of paying more taxes. They'll make damn sure the system makes you pay.

And why a magazine called 'Entrepreneur' is covering 'income inequality' and such tripe is beyond me.

Sanity Restored In Portland

The Little Evil Town Of Alpine, Texas

Alright, this story about an evil DA, the DEA and the Purple Zone (and its owner Ilana Ipsen) out of Texas is disturbing.

I mean, like, the antagonists (law enforcement) would have no trouble finding a spot in Dante's Inferno.

Oh, but T.C. you being an extremist! Dontcha know we must fight drugs - shadow boxes - to keep our streets safe?

Of course you do. But you don't do it by pulling this crap off.

Worse, it brings out the simmering anti-Semitism so many carry:

"I've received anti-Semitic hate emails. I've been told to 'go back to Jew York.' I've had people come in my store and tell me it was 'fucked up" and that I was poisoning the youth of the town—even though I have a big sign that says '18 and Over' and I have an ID scanner. The bars here in Alpine don't have ID scanners, but I do!"

Think it's restricted to right-wing hicks? Try again. I've heard and read variations of this logic on progressive sites (of course, the left carries a long and distinguished legacy of anti-semitism culminating into, you know, the Holocaust) along the lines of 'she doesn't deserve that but she gets little sympathy from me for supporting Israel".

One can but just wish there was an Anti-idiot Czar.

I can barely digest the stupidity of people anymore.

Anyway.

This is nothing but an exercise in abuse of power (they've raided this establishment four times in five years without ever finding anything as they stretch the law as far as they possibly could. Heck, they probably even broke it as they even entered a neighbor's apartment without the required papers) equipped with its own cast of characters led by a derelict DA in Rod Ponton. There's a story out there he even forced a local paper to write a story in response to a journalist's work the day previous with her name in the byline.

Right. This guy is all for the people. Right.

If America is a civilized society with a conscience, they put an end to the war on drugs. It's creating a cult of over zealous prosecutors and law officials cracking down on people often ruining lives for little if any practical results.

The destruction on countless lives all for nothing.

****

All this in Texas unfolded under Obama's watch. Just saying.

Hope and change. Change and hope. Forward. Backwards.

Don't matter.

These are just words in wonderful magnificent Obama the Light Bringer's arsenal.

Always remember. What happened to Ms. Ipsen can happen to any of us. The government has way too much power over citizens. Simple as that.

THIS is the relevant question everyone - regardless of what you think of her business - should be asking.

Blog Of The Week

A Look At Americans From The View Of A Government Employee:

"It is a crime for you Americans to save what you earn. You must first and foremost pay us what we have decided you owe us. You must hand this money over before you buy food for your children, even before it arrives in your bank account. Your employer will cooperate with us to make sure you never get a chance to handle the money you owe us.
You people like it this way. You voted away your money when we promised you various benefits in return for your money. You never got these promises in writing, and the conditions were such that you had to keep paying us regardless of when, how, or even if the benefits are ever delivered to you. You signed away your right to withhold your tax payments under the above terms over and over again. You cannot even withhold your own money in protest, yet you keep working for us to get that little bit of your own money that we allow you to keep, that little commission we use to motivate you. Peaceful resistance is not possible for you; that’s the way you wanted it."

U.S. Acting Irresponsibly Towards Citizens

In lieu of ebola, calls for travel bans is not the solution.

But there is one way to contain it: Quarantine. Yet, for some reason the U.S. is not doing this. Weren't all immigrants who came through Ellis Island subjected to this prudent, practical and responsible practice?

So why is the Obama administration not following this sensible approach?

Instead, he nominates a person without medical practice to a redundant, if not unnecessary, Ebola czar post and is preparing to let in 100 000 Haitians into the country through executive order.

President Obama is chaos on so many levels.

Heroes Of The Middle East

The Kurds, largely thanklessly, have been fighting derelict and morally bankrupted, violent religious fanatics for decades. One could be excused if they felt good guys never seemed to want to fight on behalf of what is just and honorable in the region leaving it to others.

Now we're beginning to see people mobilize and fight back ISIS in the form of guerrilla groups like White Shroud who claim they've killed as many as 100 militants (terrorists).

"But they're not the only group fighting Islamic State. According to the watchdog, Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, White Shroud is one of several small groups that are killing Islamic State fighters whenever the opportunity arises.

Other groups calling themselves "Phantom Brigade" and "The Brigade of the Angel of Death" exist, said Rami Abdulrahman, who runs the Observatory."

Go get 'em.

Why, if I didn't know any better I swear there's an epidemic of people getting way too sensitive. You can't go a paragraph without someone clutching their fucking pearls.

The Wrong Mindset Drives Policy

MY STRUGGLE!

And here I am filled with all sorts of old fashioned notions of that part of life is to take care of family members.

What is this nonsense of needing to be compensating -worse demanding society subsidize - for what is the most basic of all actions that maintains our civility? I hadn't realized parents could be seen as economic tools.

If you can't take care of your parents you have bigger problems.

Everyone has a 'my struggle' story these days. Well, mostly on left-wing rags like Salon.

Know what else I think?

People like this - in this domain - tend to defraud the state all the time. Be it through hours they submit or in my industry for home daycare, use it for a chance to 'improve' the house.

Then they have the temerity to complain or strike for more money from taxpayers.

We Told You: Freedom Of Religion Is Just A Title

Still believe the government doesn't own us?

Try this.

It's not like anyone with a 1/3 of a brain couldn't see this coming. When you involve the state, you get coercion. The idea that they now threaten religious organizations with jail time for not wanting to perform duties against their principles is frighening.

What part of 'we own your sorry asses' don't people get? Which is why it always blows my mind watching one set of citizens taking another set of citizens to court to force them to serve them.

For example, a gay couple taking a baker to court because the latter chose to not bake them a cake.

Rather than just go to the next baker they enter the realm of government. And when you do, you unleash all sorts of unintended consequences and sometimes they ironically go against you.

You can't compel someone to do something against their will. Would you like it? These same douchebag slimeballs would pull a scene if they were forced to do something they didn't want to do.

People are not your personal slaves.

Don't do it.  Simple as that.

Defending Dictators

I attack - yes attack - the left quite a bit for their legacy of supporting and being sympathetic to dictators and murderous ideologies. The assault on my part, I feel, is justified. History is history and the left can't whitewash this fact. The list of elites, intellectuals, politicians artists and celebrities supporting and gushing over the likes of Stalin, Lenin, Mao and Castro is quite impressive.

That being said, libertarians and conservatives are not without their own skeletons when it comes to acting as apologists for dictators. Nowhere near as offensive as what we see with progressives and liberals but worth noting particularly when it comes to Pinocchet.

And so it was with Hayek. Someone held in high regard in libertarian and classical liberal circles.

"Gradually returning the Federal Rate of Corporate Taxation to 1960 levels(41%) is worth the effort to return Canada to an egalitarian society your father believed in. Someone, maybe you?, has the courage to return strong controls over Capitalism, as Canada once had. "

My headache has just graduated to a migraine.

Yes because the fucking 21st century economy is exactly like the fucking 1960s. Yes, because capitalism is rampant. Out of control. In Canada. Riiiight.

For the love of God. Left-wingers really do live in a concrete, cemented zero-sum world.

America Is In Good Hands

The President never misses a chance to reward unqualified hacks.  Ron Klain's job as Ebola Czar (I thought the CDC was supposed to take care of this) will consist of doing jack shit while doing his best Chip Diller impression of 'all is well'. Did I mention Klain has ZERO qualifications for the job?

Which brings up this quote:

"President Obama said he hugged and kissed some of the nurses in Atlanta who had treated the patients with Ebola. Man, Obama will do anything to get out of that job right now."

- Conan O'Brien, October 16, 2014

As an aside, Lord, I do I hate the term 'Czar'.

***

Speaking of hacks and goofballs, Biden's son gets a dishonorable discharge from the Navy for drugs.

Ironic given his father is one of the most notorious faces of legislating draconian drug laws as part of the war on drugs that has destroyed the lives of countless people and done precious little to help, well, anyone let alone communities.

Fall Of The West Reason 39494959966666: Too Much Time On Their Hands Justifying Jobs

Judge in Lenoir City, Tennessee puts woman in prison for...

Not cutting her grass that leads to a messy yard.

Fine. I'm gonna go out and say it.

These people are evil.

My neighbor doesn't keep his yard need at all. It's annoying but I certainly don't feel it's a crime that deserves a fine let alone prison time. The municipal town where I own my business are also pains in the asses mostly because it's a tiny place and they have three or four civil servants driving around in Smart cars maintaining 'order'. If you ask me, the city could save on getting their salaries altogether since most of what they do is utter bull shit that actually graduates into accosting reasonable citizens with threats of fines.

But that's me. I know. I'm in the minority.

We've lost our minds. From taking offense too easily to jokes (the perpetually aggrieved and sour will always stretch the laws of logic to control and even destroy satire and humor), to over reacting to social issues of the day (global warming, rape on campus, ebola etc.) to whatever else you care to insert.

For the children.

FOR. THE. CHILDREN.

Heroes!

The media makes bad cops do bad things.

Problem is....TECHNOLOGY is the great equalizer.

Which is why soon enough apologists could potentially start angling to get it banned. Can't film cops, no cameras on dashboards etc..

Fusion Energy Breakthrough Announced

Hilary Charges $2500 Per Minute

Must be the most wondrously precious words in the world.

"Hello, I'm Hilary Clinton and I'm here to tell you the evils of debt and that you deserve...what's that? I said $2500 not $25 you fucking idiot! Who bathes you in the morning? Do you even bathe because judging by your scent you don't and another thing..."

/Moderator takes away mic.

Moderator: "Thanks for coming! It's all we can afford"!

Remember. This is the woman who claimed she knows what it's like to live 'poor'.

"'I think our young people deserve a fair shot,' she told about 900 people gathered at the swanky Bellagio resort for the annual UNLV Foundation dinner.

The 1-1/2-hour commitment netted Mrs. Clinton a cool $2,500 per minute.

UNLV student Jordan Mason told MailOnline in June that a nearly quarter-million-dollar payday for Clinton should have been out of the question.

'$225,000? That's obscene!' Mason said. 'And the money is all fungible, right? Even if some CEO is writing the check, that's money that the person probably would have given to the university in some other way.'

'I like Hillary,' the student added, 'but if she's not willing to support us without all that money changing hands, maybe they should book someone else who won't add to the reasons we're paying more for school.'"

Students are such suckers. They can't even connect the dots.

Quote Of The Day

From The New York Post:

What’s changed is the public’s perception of us, created by the reckless reporting by nearly every news outlet very early after the shooting of Michael Brown.

Sha-wing!

Nah. It can't be because heavily armed, trigger happy cops engage in no-knock raids sometimes killing innocent people in some cases attacking the wrong house, or choke hold people to death, or issuing random bull shit jaywalking tickets while beating up old Chinese men, or shooting down family pet dogs or the mentally-challenged. And when they're not shooting at people they gang up and beat down the homeless sometimes resulting in death or stealing from the deceased.

And that's just what's being reported.

Nah. It's gotta be the media.

Don't the police own mirrors?

In any event, some people would consider most marriages a sham so what she did was technically not a sham-sham marriage.

Central Planning Erosion

Immigration or centralization caused the collapse of Rome asked The Brussels Journal back in 2009.

I didn't realize these were the principle two reasons for its fall - indeed, I thought it was a debate for the ages what caused the fall of the mighty Roman Empire - but if I had to choose I'll go with centralization.

In fact, we're seeing how centralization ravages civilizations right before our very eyes.

We're drunk on government centralization. So much so I don't even think we can extricate ourselves from its grips. It's way too addictive.

Thought Of The Day

Mark Zuckerberg loves giving away so much money to bureaucratic agencies he should nationalize himself.

Question

When will the United States help the Kurds?

It's truly a remarkable mystery that the ONE pro-American, secular people in the Mid-East who are begging for U.S. help are not getting it.

Just mind-boggling.

NDP Proposes Nationalized Daycare; Bad, BAD Idea

I know this typical of the left-wing NDP but, man oh man, this is a bad idea. It's almost as if they're blind to the corruption and fraud that has infested Quebec's subsidized daycare program. And believe you me, everyone in the know is aware of the racket that is subsidized daycare.

So in comes this bozos and want to increase the potential for fraud at the national level.

But not all is crazy in NDP-land. They want to charge $15 a day. Which is way better than the insanity of $7 in Quebec (where increasing it to a negligible $9 is seen as ravaging the middle class with 'austere' measures - I don't make this shit up; it's how they think).

Yay! People cheer.

Only problem is it will cost waaaayyyyyy more than that to run and operate and with it will come all the usual union and bureaucratic bull shit that festers in such programs.

Jesus. Just let society run that part of the show. Why must the government get involved in all facets of our lives?

Yeah but T.C. it costs $50 a day to go to daycare! $15 would be so much better!

If you think this way you deserve a helmet to go through life in.

The government will TAX you for the difference or if you prefer the deficit they will incur. And remember, while you have two weeks vacation in the private sector, be prepared for daycare workers to go on strike to get six weeks paid vacation ON YOU DIME.

$15 in Federal/Provincial speak will cost you more than $50.

Now. This is where T.C. places you on his lap or knee and explains to you finance. Would you, an ADULT, presumably filled with pride and dignity; accountability and responsibility, want the money in his or her pocket to manage like an independent individual or do you want to hand your money over to Ms. Pencil Pushing Bureaucrat who could care less about your pockets?

Never mind about the silliness of ravaging your pockets. Nationalized daycare will destroy private daycare whom thousands of people earn their livelihoods.

Yes. This is so moral to do.

I still can't believe in this day and age of high corruption and waste and with all that we know about the state of the welfare apparatus and lack of funds to support it we still look to the government to run our daily lives.

No wonder the West is falling.

Heroes!

American police. Thugs with badges?

Sure seems likes it.

They have little professional ethic these days. And it ain't much better up here listening to them talk.

Thursday Night Music: Monster Magnet

Poverty Inc. Film Out This Autumn

Look forward to the movie Poverty Inc.

In the excerpts shown and discussed on Stossel, one was about how Haitian subsidized rice production destroyed rice farmers. Before subsidization, Haiti's rice production was normal and functional. After subsidization, Haiti's poverty only hastened.

It's a similar story playing out here in Quebec with daycare or whenever anything is subsidized. It distorts the market making things unequal and unjust.

There was no real reason to subsidize daycare. All it did was put in jeopardy the lives of private day care operators and create a gigantic mess of a bureaucracy rooted in fraud and obscene waste.

As I mentioned in a previous post, subsidization is evil to the extent it ends up costing us and the economy we operate in more in the long-run.

So much more.

World Looks To America On ISIS

Watching nations consider their options in the fight against ISIS is a textbook example of how the world talks but in the end waits for American leadership.

And this is where things usually get messy for America. Their bound to displease allies on whatever course of action they select. We've seen this play out time and again. The world wants America to bud out but they want them to bud in. Meanwhile, domestically the United States is dealing with a war-weary public which is probably why Obama is bypassing Congress because he knows Americans don't want another fight.

In the case of Turkey, they took their concerns to NATO but let's face it, NATO may as well be a mask for the United States. They were really talking to the Americans. Unfortunately, they're talking to an administration that can't even bring itself to admit publicly and conclusively that they're at war.

I'm somewhat surprised if not disappointed by Turkey's position. I thought for sure they would not tolerate ISIS on their borders yet despite their fighting abilities seem to be dithering waiting on joint efforts from other nations. Turkey's position and the general confusion of the Obama administration don't bode well for both.

Meanwhile, the Kurds courageously fight on with so little.

Law Enforcement In North America Sick

Normally, stories like this one out of Georgia sarcastically goes under the banner of 'Heroes' but given its upsetting nature it deserves a different title and consideration.

It's rather disconcerting the frequency of 'no-knock' raids by police in the U.S. often resulting in unnecessary deaths of innocent people.

Something is wrong with law enforcement if a judge signs off and a police chief gives clearance for these raids.

To me it's incompetence leading to criminal acts of trespassing and murder.

Not death in the interest in protecting and serving but plain old murder.

Recall, that according to the article, the police took the word of a criminal and proceeded to attack an innocent man with NO CRIMINAL HISTORY. What does it take to show up at the door and knock?

No wonder people want to keep their guns and cops want to confiscate them.

It makes  little sense that as police forces militarize politicians take dead aim at gun control against law-abiding, free citizens.

The people who fight tooth and nail protecting the 2nd amendment are, to me anyway, 100% in the right.

The police are breeding suspicion among the people. This can't be good for communities across the country.

I ask, given the nature of how these no-knock invasions sometimes go down:

Cui Bono?

Pournelle's Law Of Iron Bureaucracy

Pournelle's Law of Iron Bureuacracy.

"Pournelle's Iron Law of Bureaucracy states that in any bureaucratic organization there will be two kinds of people: those who work to further the actual goals of the organization, and those who work for the organization itself. Examples in education would be teachers who work and sacrifice to teach children, vs. union representative who work to protect any teacher including the most incompetent. The Iron Law states that in all cases, the second type of person will always gain control of the organization, and will always write the rules under which the organization functions."

We do tend to conflate the hard working dedicated worker in the bureaucracy and the power hungry entitlement seeking minion whenever talk of reducing the bureaucracy comes up.  The latter group is toxic.

I Said For The Children!!!!!

How do these idiots like Fiona Ma get elected? She needs one of those 'smarten up' slaps.

Holy shit I've heard stupid things from politicians but this is possibly one of the worst. You know you're a buffoon when a spokesperson for Ravers is more sensible and understand the bull shit of contemporary public policy. Namely the cynical game of appeals to emotions. And you do that by talking about the children.

I've attended Raves in the 1990s. Other than the concern of sometimes occasionally having them in condemned or abandoned buildings (which stopped pretty quickly),  believe me, there's little to worry about. Not when compared to the real problems that we face.

Be careful of women like that.

The Time Has Come

To throw cops who act this way (in this case in Indiana) in prison.

Especially with cops who have a history of this.

Enough already.

I get the safety for officer argument bit...up to a point.

But it's not about that. It's total unaccountable bully behavior. Montreal police use excessive force as well and we have one of the lowest murder rates on the continent.

So, forgive me for thinking if there's something more at work here.

Question

Is there a more under appreciated and valiant group everyone is rooting for than the Kurds?

When Democrats Derp

"In the second debate in 2004 U.S. presidential election, Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry questioned the size of the coalition participating in the initial invasion, saying, "...when we went in, there were three countries: Great Britain, Australia and the United States. That's not a grand coalition. We can do better".

Ahem.

Comments relevant.

***

Back during the Bush years everyone - and I mean everyone had something to say about how evil he was. You couldn't turn the TV on, read a paper or even listen to a concert '(I hope the Muslims win'! bellowed Crissie Hynde with the intellectual prowess of a community organizer) without anger pointed towards the Bush administration. Movies and faux-documentaries were made; coffee houses and university campuses pounded their precious tables and chests lamenting the fall of the American Republic and 'democracy'.

Even at a late night stand up show a comedian mocked Bush's 'Coalition of the Willing'. Another prevailing view was the 'unhinged' Bush Doctrine was going to attack Iran and then Syria and so on.

You couldn't escape it. It was everywhere.

Now?

I was in Delaware and shopping in a shop clearly leaning left (judging by the merchandise) and in full display were anti-Bush stickers. Six years after. It's like Obama's worse record isn't even happening.

***

What constitutes a 'coalition' anyway? Two, three, 10 countries?

Silence.

Even as Obama out-attacks Bush, secretly drone kills without due process all while pushing an incoherent foreign policy of 'not war-war'.

Genetically Modified Labeling

Our story - humanity - is but about genetic modification.

Label away if it makes you feel better. Hey, you can even say it's for the future of our children.

Whatever floats your boat.

I just don't think it's necessary. Or even rational.

Quote Of The Day: For The Children

"When school children start paying union dues, that 's when I'll start representing the interests of school children.”
- Albert Shanker - President, United Federation of Teachers

And the mask falls. Yet, they want OUR money.

Like any of us actually believed it was ever for the children. We've seen this act play out in Quebec and B.C. for years.

Truth is, when push comes to shove - that is, the second their pockets are touched they'll throw the children not just under the bus but hurl them over it as well.

People like Shanker, of which there are way too many, can literally go fuck a tree.

Self-Entitlement Of The Other Kind

I admit I'm a bit of a sports junkie - not as bad as some I see around me but still rather engaged to a point.

The one thing I hate about sports are the owners.

I know we here at T.C. central rail against left-wing twats and their 'give me free shit because I deserve it and it's good for society because the children and data' deservedly get lampooned and harpooned with words, but corporate bums are no better. They're one and the same in terms of the psychologically behind getting tax payer dollars.

It's probably worse among owners because they literally must feel they're the only ones who truly deserve getting other people's money mostly because they privately have so much of it. Never mind some happened upon the money, or others merely lucked out, they just feel, you know, smarter.

However, there's nothing smart about shaming and strong arming government's into giving them money to build sports stadiums and arenas.

If they're so sure of their project (and honestly, no one know for sure anything will work. Business plans are as useful to me as a used kleenex), then let them plump down the money or make arrangements with their banks to finance their projects.

I sure as hell don't believe any company deserves any taxpayer dollars or subsidies to drive their objectives. Nor do I necessarily buy into it 'creates jobs' argument especially if the money goes into trendy places, say, green companies who more often than not either close up or run major losses.

Put it to you another way. Would you give money to someone who fails spectacularly no matter how smooth they talk? Would you personally invest in a company that shows it has no earnings?

I know I wouldn't. Yet, the government sees wisdom in giving money to proven losers in loser industries.

In the long-run, these losses or interest payments add up negatively on the economy I reckon.

Alas, I'm not a Top Man so how can I possibly understand things like the 'greater good', right?

If you can't stand on your own two feet then you don't deserve the money is all I'm saying.

Quebec Road Etiquette Fail

My informal, anecdotal study regarding common road etiquette in Quebec has led me to giving the province a 'C-'.

It would be a failing grade - that is, 'F' - but I figured there are some conscientious drivers out there who gave me hope but like intelligent and wise voters who are actually informed, they're in the minority.

Worse, Quebecers can barely be bothered to follow simple urban rules like doing a complete stop at a school intersection.

It's bad.

Really bad.

Heck, just my walk to school with my daughter reveals a couple of incidences of people not taking a deep breath to observe it's a school cross walk. I'm not joking, the brigadier chews out two or three people a week.

Worse, the drivers actually argue back!

But Quebec wants more bike paths. Suuurrre. The last thing this place needs is more chances for Quebec drivers to hit their targets.

In my view, this is not a naturally green place. The bikers are all too quick to give the finger and the drivers don't have the patience to let joggers and cyclists cross an intersection.

The concept of pedestrian right of way is a suggestion - nay a nuisance - here.

These are my thoughts having now cycled and jogged over 100 times since March. I've had at least a dozen run ins all of which were not even close to being my fault. Not only that. On the bike/walk paths, we see more Quebec sans politesse as people seem ignorant of the concept of 'keep right'. Or bikers flying down the path sometimes yelling at joggers thus startling them for no reason.

Not impressed.

Come to think of it. I give us a 'D'.

***

Quick word on self-centered drivers who drive 25-30km/hr in a one-lane 50 zone either barely doing stops or excessively observing them but speed up as soon as a yellow light comes on. Same with people clogging up the left-lane on highways strolling along at 60 on a 100 zone. There's no excuse. None. It's a passing lane.

Fuck you. Fuck you with a rusty nail especially if you're young and doing it on purpose.

Quote Of The Day

"The Democrats are the party that says government will make you smarter, taller, richer, and remove the crabgrass on your lawn. The Republicans are the party that says government doesn't work and then they get elected and prove it."

P. J. O'Rourke

Democacacracy!

Salon comes up with a lot infantile, vapid stupidity so it's impossible to link to their articles on a daily basis since I wouldn't be able to keep up. However, I can't let this slide:

Let us close, then, by repeating democracy’s first principle: Government exists to help as many as possible.

It's like they just invent things on the fly.

In all my years in political science and history classes in University, on top of endless lectures, essays, periodicals and observations of great philosophers, I've never encountered anyone argue the same as the quote above.

What Frick and Frack are doing in the article is using 'democracy' to dictate policy they want.

They aren't informing in as much as they're engaging in propaganda (notice the appeals to emotion with scary pictures of Scalia, Zimmerman and Koch as if they're destroying their brand of democracy; of what kind who knows? They never really define democracy in any meaningful way.  They just 'use' the word but don't give a shit about it anymore bureaucrats and politicians care about 'the children'.

In this way, they become useful idiots for the state as they seem to espouse the idea of concentrating more power into one person or party - that is, an appeal to authority. Which also means, on social matters, they represent the enablers of the entitlement class. Because the children.

Which is fine if they're feeding this intellectual tripe to their morbidly remedial vapid band of banal readers. If someone takes issue with it, no problem. You're an extremist. Or racist. Or both.

Why, you're even ignorant of the first principle of democracy!

Not so fine when it enters a room filled with less ideologically driven and informed people.

Welcome to 21st century progressivism.

Oh, yeah I love this. It's the one where progressives in justifying coercive action to increases minimum wages they argue it's good for business since people will have more money to spend.

Aside from the arrogance of know what's good for a business, it's a theory that may sound good but I fear is just not practical.

Climate Change Hijacked By Political Left

Let's get one thing straight. Naomi Klein is not an environmentalist. She's an opportunist. She uses capitalism to spring her pseudo-intellectual anti-capitalism screeds to sell books. Since there are more rubes than wise men among us, she makes money. But people buy into her nonsense.

Ditto for Al Gore, David Sukuki (who will not debate real scientists in public including former founder of Greenpeace Patrick Moore) and the rest of the shrill, left-wing ideologues who have hijacked environmentalism. These people make money playing enviro-compassionism.

This bunch is so arrogant they believe they can dictate energy policy regardless of what others may think.

How the narrative has spun to become one of blaming capitalism for global warming is beyond me to comprehend but not surprising it took this absurd and pathetic route.

Recall, Dante had place in hell reserved for opportunists.

Greenwald: Obama's Fake Terror

I find it interesting that Bush came out and basically gave Obama a life line asking the American public to be patient regarding Iraq.

Interesting considering how many times Obama has publicly blamed Bush for various problems he's trying to 'fix'.

Anyway.

He not only is Bush 2.0, but actually worse:

"As the Obama Administration prepared to bomb Syria without congressional or U.N. authorization, it faced two problems. The first was the difficulty of sustaining public support for a new years-long war against ISIS, a group that clearly posed no imminent threat to the “homeland.” A second was the lack of legal justification for launching a new bombing campaign with no viable claim of self-defense or U.N. approval.

The solution to both problems was found in the wholesale concoction of a brand new terror threat that was branded “The Khorasan Group.” After spending weeks depicting ISIS as an unprecedented threat — too radical even for Al Qaeda! — administration officials suddenly began spoon-feeding their favorite media organizations and national security journalists tales of a secret group that was even scarier and more threatening than ISIS, one that posed a direct and immediate threat to the American Homeland. Seemingly out of nowhere, a new terror group was created in media lore."

You will not find people in liberal blogs or Canadians, however, leaving the same type of comments they left for Bush back in the day.

I still have Canadians look at me funny whenever I point out to them Obama's transgressions.

Ebola Hyperbole

The irony of the history of American slavery is that the United States, compared to the Middle-East and Europe, did least harm to Africa of any great power or empire.

Yet, we're still treated to this myth that somehow Americans went to Africa to steal black people from African Kings.

African kingdoms, as we know, had little qualms about selling their own into slavery.

So whenever you hear rappers like MC Hammer go on about how 'ebola is karma' for past American slavery sins, remember where the  tribe of ignorance lies.

No Sympathy Here

So a few firemen (six to be exact) were fired today for their part in the storming of City Hall back in August.

You ain't gonna get me to spare a tear for them.

Look. I'm all for people sticking it to the state but if they're gonna do something like this then they best be prepared to deal with the consequences.

Heard a left-wing ideologue on the radio today mock her conservative counterpart for not being compassionate enough for people losing their jobs.

He responded like any reasonable person would by suggesting if you do the crime, be prepared for the repercussions that follow. They knew their actions were illegal. Did they believe they were above the law? That they were indispensable members of society? Everyone is replaceable. Everyone.

The former socialist NDP candidate spent 30 minutes making one poor excuse after another questioning if they should lose their jobs going as far as to project by saying 'who hasn't made mistakes'?

Listeners were - justifiably - having none of it. In fact, very few people sympathize with them.

I certainly don't react this way.

It was a typical bull shit progressive stance.

Let me rephrase it. If you or I stormed City Hall what do you think would happen?

We'd likely be thrown in prison.

The way I see it, these guys got off light.

Know what else? Enough of this fireman, police hero bull shit. Too many of these guys get off for crimes they commit; crimes that if committed by citizens would result in jail time.

Know what else? I'd have the cops physically remove those stupid protest stickers off of their squad cars. Cars WE the taxpayers paid for.

The fact they consistently ask to jail 'deniers' and in this case this idiot takes it further by using the word 'execute' should be cause for concern for any decent, intelligent individual who cherishes hard fought ideals like liberty and freedom of expression and speech.

How in the world are Tea Party members constantly tagged as 'extremists' but assholes like Kennedy in their assault on rights are not?

A's Epic Collapse One For The Books

After a 29 year absence from the playoffs, the Kansas City Royals overcame a 7-3 deficit to beat the Oakland A's 9-8 in 12 innings last night.

I'll chalk this one up to 'winning in spite of' given the errors and strange managerial decisions in the game. The Royals were lucky otherwise they would have been, well, royally screwed.

Regardless, this storyline is less significant than the collapse of the Athletics.

On August 9, the A's were leading the AL west division by four games over the Anaheim Angels (of L.A.!) with a 72-44 record and a staggering +173 run differential.

I point out RD because it's an indicator of how dominant a team is.

They finished the season by going 16-30 from that point on along with a -16 differential barely holding off the Seattle Mariners to make the playoffs.

The reversal of fortune was swift and epic in its collapse.
