Quote Of The Day

From Reason an article discussing Chicago teachers striking despite a 16% pay rise in depressed economic times:

"The Albany Times Union looked at what was going on outside New York City and discovered some shocking data: Of 132,000 teachers, only 32 were fired for any reason between 2006 and 2011. "
for the math challenged, that is ONE teacher out of 4,000 fired in a 5 yr period."

It's next to impossible to fire a bad teacher.

New York City salaries. I wish there was a site for Montreal like this.

Here's the thing. The left rails against CEO salaries. But can someone explain to me how union reps or civil servants make $200-600 k a year? The CEO is head of a corporation that at least produces something. Public servants are paid through tax dollars.

From teachers wanting more cash to students wanting free tuition. Things don't look good for private interests and our taxes.
