The Most Dangerous Word: Entitlement

I've been sitting on this thought for some time and although I've written about it on numerous occasions in the past, I wanted to tie it into the path of intellectual destruction Bernie Sanders has paved. In just a few short years, he was able to bring to the national stage the ideas of Marxism and socialism. What was troubling was how easy it was to bring people to his side.

Thus proving how easy it is to lose everything if leftists 'seize control' and at the moment their power is so gripping they don't need to actually pull the levers, they can just signal for someone else infected by the 'Commie virus' (usually a thoughtless Democrat, progressive or Liberal) to do the dirty work.

I've observed like many others the troubling fact how easy it is to take over our economy. The pandemic is pretty mild by the standards of history. Imagine when something really powerful hits?

If I'm looking to invest in a business, I'd think twice. If this pandemic shows anything, the small business is an easy target to be marked for death as both government and mob tyranny are ready to sacrifice it to the wolves.

People are too quick to hastily hand over power to bureaucrats who often don't have the answers or know what to do themselves .

Which ties into the notion these same people probably feel entitled to a lot of stuff in life.

The sense of entitlement has proliferated in the last 10 years or so. Everyone is entitled to something they feel is a 'human right'. Clearly, they never learned about the difference 'positive' and 'negative' rights. And even if they did, they'd probably scoff it off as some 'social construct built by the patriarchy' or 'times have changed.' Everything is a right now!

Which plainly points to the fact a worse kind of virus has been resurrected: Sophistry.

After WWII we declared victory and moved on. We then won the Cold War.

Problem is, we never won the battle of ideologies and ideas.

The fact remans, classical liberalism and conservatism never found its footing leaving a gaping hole that never got filled. What we got was a post-war 'system of stability' with all sorts of neat jargon attached to it mostly tied to progressive ideas but it was never guided on a framework of actual principles.

Which is why it's been so easy for progressivism to continue its path of destruction started in the early 1900s.

No one is entitled to anything. You earn things. You're entitled to basic human rights like free speech and even a right to a fair trial but not free education. Or even free health care.

The problem with the pandemic is people are clearly read to forego more of their free will and agency and hand it over to the state.

And this is a troubling if not sad trend.

Rather than be entitled to be given permission to be free, fight for the entitlement of liberty.

If the 'new normal' prevails, it won't be a life worth living. It will be a life where you live for the state under a false sense of security.

We may as well all be named Winston now.
