Daily Derp: No, We're Not In This Together.

I can't keep up with all the second-rate thinking, stupid leadership and general all-round superstition anymore.

*I didn't not wear a mask while typing this up.

Sure, Whitmore, sure. You lying, low IQ authoritarian lout.

Screaming 'racism' is the last refuge of a scoundrel and intellectually and morally bankrupted opportunistic waste of atoms.

Soon enough, you and your ilk will be laughing stocks and examples of exactly what NOT to do in the wake of pandemic.

If there were posters of Mike Rowe in his underwear I'd probably buy it. He basically said there's no such thing as a non-essential worker.

Absolutely.

Early on when the government was arbitrarily deciding who was essential and non-essential I wondered about imagining telling me they're 'non-essential'.

Just to show you how splendidly stupid we are sales people in sports apparel still worked throughout the pandemic. Not to disparage the job, but does anyone think that's 'essential'? Point is, it's foolish to even bother trying separating the two. All we have are WORKERS and they're ALL ESSENTIAL.

The unfairness of it all.

*****

Speaking of which. In Quebec, subsidized daycares have been getting their subsidy through the pandemic despite being closed. Already in a privileged position, they have been sitting pretty financially. Private daycare operators, in the meantime, have had to go apply for all sorts of loans just to survive and beg the government for added assistance.

When asked, private daycares stepped up and opened during the pandemic. Subsidized daycares did not.

They were saying about 'fairness' again?

Canada in recession. Wow. Gee. Who didn't see that coming? In just eight weeks!

The virus didn't do this. We CHOSE to shut down.

And now we have people in full plastic grills walking among us.

*****

Good. The USA and Japan are angry. We all should be.

Janet Mills is the latest example of a remedial tyrant in power.

Know what I think? Low IQ governors need to quit while they're ahead. This is slowly spiralling out of control.

She's acting as if Maine was hit like NY and that somehow some second wave is going to hurl giant man-eating lobsters laced with corona at the state.

She's just about the worst (and most evil. I'm sorry. I think they really do get high on flattening people) governor in terms of heavy handed authoritarian measures relative to the actual situation.

1025 cases and 57 deaths.

Here's the problem. People are realizing why are major corporations allowed to stay open but all the independents are being shut down (you know, the mom and pops the left to pretend to love)?

And here's where the story takes that evil turn. Maine isn't exactly being over run by the virus and the Governor is shutting down the state while unilaterally setting draconian policies.

Now it has taken a more sinister turn as the case of Sunday River Brewery is showing. They said they would open in defiance of her orders and subsequently had their licenses revoked.

I truly hope karma exists. Mills deserves in another life the same sort of torment and destruction she is purposefully inflicted in peaceful citizens.

Low IQ and weak occupiers like Mills erode the basic democratic trust. Business plays by the rules for the most part including tolerating the licensing racket. There's always a fear the government could come and revoke licenses which is something business owners have to live with as is the case with me.

Revoking a licences in this instance is just about the most evil thing the state can do to a citizen. It's aggression.

Again. The purpose of the shut down was to 'flatten the curve' and 'not overwhelm the system'. Now it has taken a turn towards fearing a second wave while using vague language and words like 'indefinite'. And this is where they begin to lose people. Flatten curves, Flatten people. It coms off as a bait and switch.

1 205 total cases. 57 deaths. In a population of 1.3 million.

Mills is destroying her state and long-term reputation for 57 deaths.

The people are justified to be angry at this outrageous over reaction and heavy handed action.

It's worth noting Mills is seen by the Chinese as someone who would be favourable towards them.

The pandemic has divided people, roughly, along the lines as those who are getting paid and cheer the restrictions on and those who have lost their income and call for the lifting of the restrictions.

The former group, remember still getting a paid vacation, then call those who want to reopen 'selfish' and 'irresponsible'.

They're paying the ultimate sacrifice: Loss of income and employment and in the case of owners their businesses.

I don't see commercials about the destruction on society the lockdown has unleashed.

Nope.

We have to celebrate health care workers. They 'run into danger to save lives'.

Here I thought it was their jobs they're performing. Not saying it isn't challenging or dangerous. Just pointing out they chose their profession.

I'm not digging this hero worshipping at all.

Government workers and people employed by big corporations are the ones actually benefitting from this economically and get to score 'virtue signalling' points. Corporations aren't friends of small business.

People think they're the same but the former is politically connected and have lobbyists and sometimes even benefit from cronyism where they get to influence laws that hurt the competition. Big corporations get hand outs and bail outs all the time. Small business have little or no clout (until the CFIB arrived) and rarely if ever receive a dime or stitch of help from government. They're usually the first casualty in any 'war'.

In the battle for public support, SME's get little and workers in corporate settings, you would think, could offer some words of encouragement but instead choose to say little.

I don't think people - the Branch Covidians as one person describes them - grasp what's happening at all.

In the case of businesses like Sunday River, many still have to pay licensing fees, various government fees (where applicable) and taxes, rent and mortgages and other fixed costs that never ever were forgiven. All that has to be paid.

Like how the mob comes for its collection. You had a slow week? Too bad. Fuck you. Pay me.

This is exactly what's happening. Businesses have no sales and ergo NO CASH flow to pay for anything.

We've left them twisting in the wind.

But hey. As long as celebrities can flaunt their lavish lifestyles while calling people names and others can post pictures of their latest culinary or baking triumph as the economy burns.

Bury those heads in the sand folks.

You chose that.

Fine.

But don't ever have the temerity to say 'we're in this together' or 'we'll get through this together'.

WE'RE NOT IN THIS TOGETHER.. The majority of people are paying little or no price.

We may be in the same storm, but we're not in the same boat.

I hope Jeffrey Tucker is right about the positive fall out of this madness.
