Daily Derp: Covid-1984 Lies

Gates worries about 2000 deaths a day, Harvard experts want lockdown in 13 states NOW (will they lead the charge a forego their pay checks?), and I got a bad headache.

To the derp!

Ah, what better way than to start with Paul Krugman; the Kroogster. The man with a liberal conscience.

Where would we be without Paul to explain 'microbe economics' to the poor huddled, ignorant masses.

Ahem:

Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida said something remarkably stupid the other day. I know, I know: It’s probably harder to find a day on which DeSantis didn’t say something stupid than a day on which he did. But this particular piece of thickheadedness, I’d argue, helps us understand why America’s response to the coronavirus has been so disastrous compared with other wealthy nations.
Florida has, of course, become a COVID-19 epicenter, with soaring case totals and a daily death toll now consistently exceeding that of the whole European Union, which has 20 times its population. But DeSantis won’t contemplate any rollback of the state’s obviously premature reopening; he even refuses to close venues that are perfect coronavirus incubators.
Let's grab Paul's balls and watch him squeal with the data his overly lying about. And really, it doesn't take hard work to do this. It's all readily available. But Krugman has such a low opinion of people it allows for this shoddy and embarrassingly stupid take. So astonishing in its sophomoric reverence, only a NYT reader can applaud it.

Florida's death rate is 307 per million.

EU Death Toll:  182,136:  Population of EU: 446MM.
That's a 408 per million death toll.

Let's look at other American states which is where Mr. Masterlass should be focused on. Let's see here:

NJ; 1789
NY: 1684
MASS: 1247
CONN: 1243
For  kicks, thrown in Quebec at 656.
Pretty astounding how Cuomo and Murphy never get pasted in the media with those horrific numbers.
Anyway. 13 other states pass Florida. Total average for USA: 469.
So that's Europe at 468. USA at 469. And 17 states with worse numbers.
And Florida has the second highest senior population in the country.
Paul Krugman is a liar. If you're paying for his Masterclass, I'd ask for your money back if you're getting crap logic like this.

Wired for stupidity:

"Dr. Anthony Fauci’s new normal is less normal than anyone’s during this year of the coronavirus. As the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases—and perhaps the most widely trusted voice on the White House Coronavirus Task Force—he has been revered and reviled, sometimes by his own boss, President Donald Trump, the sixth president he has served under. Just in the past seven days, he threw out the first pitch of the baseball season and was featured on a Topps baseball card. A vaccine that his lab helped develop went into a Phase III trial, the last stage of human clinical testing. And Trump attacked him again, retweeting a charge that the meticulously honest Fauci serially “misled the American public.”
Just another week for the scientist who has been fighting outbreaks since leading the government response on HIV/AIDS in the 1980s, and who now faces his biggest challenge in fighting both the worst pandemic of our lifetime and dealing with a president who doesn’t seem to have a coherent plan for fighting the virus. On Tuesday evening, Fauci found time to speak to WIRED about why the US has done so poorly in combating Covid-19, whether schools should open, and why no amount of abuse from Trump will make him leave his post. The interview has been edited for clarity and length.
It seems that there’s a hostility towards science and evidence-based thinking. How much does that worry you?

It does. Obviously, there is a bit of an anti-science trend in the United States, a pushing back on authority telling you what to do. Sometimes, in a good vein, that could be the independent spirit of the American people. That is part of our character. But on the other hand, it can work against you. And when you push back on someone telling you what to do, and you mix that with a trend of anti-authority, anti-science, then you get into trouble. Then you get into the situation we find ourselves now, where people are not acting in a way that is safeguarding their health."

I don't know who's more full of shit. Wired! Or Fauci.

Meticulous? Fauci is the one who said this was nothing more than the flu and that there was nothing to worry about. Does Wired! think we forgot about that? He also said - correctly - the masks are laregely psychological theatre. That was following the science, but now he has reversed and embraced it even though the science doesn't justify mass mandates. So who is being anti-science exactly?

Fauci wants everything to be closed until next year and preposterously asserts schools should remain closed even though the body of evidence and science shows it's largely safe for kids to go back as per paediatricians and Children's hospitals across North America.

Some science they follow, eh?

Is this the same meticulous Fauci who said - along with a bunch of other incompetent public health officials who said the purpose of the lockdown was to slow the spread so as to not overwhelm the hospitals but now all seem to have mischievously moved the goal posts and want a rushed vaccine to accomplish this? The same vaccine he has a financial interest in?

Is Wired! run by a bullpen of school girls with a crush on Ringo or are they real journalists?

Then comes this bizarre hate on hydroxychloroquine - a drug that's been used for over 50 years and has less side effects than aspirin I read. Fauci dismisses multiple studies and lines of evidence showing the efficacy of it and Wired! thinks he's evidence based and doesn't deserve some criticism?

These are currently practicing doctors and virologists saying this. Not some bureaucrat deep in the bowels of a government agency no longer seeing patients.

How did Fauci become the beginning and end to this? There many people who are better positioned to comment on this virus than he is but somehow it's anti-science to challenge him?

I thought the goal was to do eventing possible 'to save a life'. We use accept the absence of empirical evidence for masks as a 'shot in the dark' but won't use this drug to help people?

As one doctor explained to me who can't understand why people are taking this stance. Apparently this virus acts in a similar vain as malaria so it's not surprising applying this drug would have some positive results.

If my cynical goggles weren't so tight, I'd think this is all naked, ugly politics. Don't underestimate the media's hate of HCQ simply because Trump merely suggested it can help people. Trump did the right thing having hospitals not report to the CDC. This thing is way too politicized and it's wreaking havoc on the American psyche.

I'd like to know more about this guy's record during the AIDS episode. Something tells me he was just as floppy-floppy. But don't expect Wired! to get off their damn knees and look into it.

Dr. Fauci is no dummy. But he's been anything but meticulous.

There's no hostility towards evidence-based thinking

Fuck you Wired! Medical bureaucrats have earned their scorn.

I can read. I'm not lazy. You're nothing but a mouthpiece for propaganda. The set of balls on you to claim people are anti-science.

Go back to coding. You're part of the problem and if you keep this up YOU will have death on your hands.

It starts at about the 5 minute mark. The doctors censured by FB and mocked by magazines like WIRED! are not backing down. We're being lied to.
