I'm tired of politicians saying, 'we follow the science'.
They say this because they have a distorted and demented view of how our society is configured. Expressed as'; Deplorables are under the bed. They see YOU as too ignorant to understand 'science' they shape in the form of a narrative to sell an agenda.
So when they say 'global warming is happening' there's no room for a single contrary and skeptical position because they alone follow the science.
Of course, those who stand firm and question authority understand the power of asking 'what if they're wrong?' and 'cui bono?' Isn't this what forms the bedrock of a free society engaging in an exchange of ideas?
But they want it shut down.
Then comes the hard part. Freeland claiming her government 'follows the science' it belies the actions undertaken by the Liberals. The betray their own utterances because this not a government that follows or adheres to principles of any kind be it intellectual or scientific.
This government lets identify politics determine its course of action. I believe there's a strong case to be made that their insidious decision to not close down air space as soon as the pandemic was official fuelled the malaise. They could have taken swifter action through one simple calculus: Do right by Canadians.
But they couldn't even do that. They chose, instead, to publicly say in doing so, it would be 'xenophobic.' It's one thing when this rhetoric is empty political verbiage in order to get elected but quite another when it's used to filter information letting events lead the decision.
This government failed Canada in spectacular fashion. Maybe Canadians are too busy staring at the fake news about Trump in the USA to even care how ill-served they are.
And the Americans are no better. While it's tempting and easy to just blame Trump about New York (which is about as lazy and lame as you can get because before him comes Albany, the CDC and local politics right down to De Blasio in the pecking order of failure), they've proven to be just as naive in letting identity politics drive their decisions.
People DIED because of it is what I'm trying to tell you.
Tell you what. We'd better smarten up fast because we're in a Cold War II whether we like or realize it or not.

The same poisoned lie of 'following science' led the Governor of NJ Phil Murphy admit he didn't consider the Bill of Rights when he chose to go full panic and Denethor saying it was 'above his pay grade'.
This guy basically said 'no economic recovery until there are no more cases!'
I find his excuse for keeping liquor stores open to be weak. If it's a mental health issue, then what about the mental state of small business owners or employees in industries shut down? Is this not a potential mental health crisis?
The arbitrariness of all this is foolish if not sinister.
Good luck New Jersey. If this guys stays the course you ether have to engage in civil disobedience or you're done.
This pandemic, if anything, is showing the quality of leadership we have across the continent. I believe leaders are tying to do the right thing but these decisions are heavy-handed and in my view, unless a blatant flouting of simple rules are present, not a single damn citizen ON THE CONTINENT should be arrested. Make it your business to STOP IT.
This is more frightening than the virus itself.
