Act like a leftist, but profit like a rightist.
$315 million for The Huffington Post?
Ok. Nikk, you win. I'm an atheist from now on.
If you pay close attention, that's some exclusive circle of cash and friends. Looks like a neat shill game to me.
Loyal readers aren't happy about it either.
And I thought it was "evil" to not pay your workers - in this case bloggers. Shit, they have a President who keeps blabbing on about "sharing the wealth."
Anti-corporate and sweatshop article on Huffington in 3-2-1...

ReplyDeleteYeah, I've always thought Arianna Huffington was really nothing but an opportunist. I didn't realize that her bloggers made their contributions to the HufPo for free. Sure, I don't pay my contributors over at SE a dime, either, but hey, that's Skeptical Eye, so what do you expect.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, T.C., just in case you haven't heard, apparently Bret has quit blogging for good (see his final post titled Bye).
So, looks like once again I have a vacancy, if you ever want to blog for free (however, if you're in my area sometime, I am willing to throw in room and board for a few days-just bring your own computer please, cause if I'm not using it, my girl probably will be).
Well, at least he went down swinging Bret style.
ReplyDeleteI think he realized his "tax anything that moves" policy wasn't going to be implemented no matter how hard he tried.
As for Huffington. If she's the face of liberal journalism all I have to say is poor them.
Thanks for the offer. Only problem is I'm no atheist, anarchist or Bretorite.
I have to think about things moving forward.
Well, T.C., SE already has contributors that are non-atheists (Swiftmark is a Christian) and non-anarchists (Radio Bloger) and then there was Bret (enough said), so of course, you'd fit right in if you ever decide you'd want to be part of the insanity. The invitation remains an open offer.
ReplyDeleteOtherwise, I think I'm slowing going to turn SE into the premier link blog that brings useful information and interesting stories to the world. Then again, it already does that, just not as well as it should, but stay tuned, I'm always promising more than I can deliver.
I think it is more properly stated:
ReplyDeletePreach socialism for the masses but practice capitalism for yourself.
How appropo in this instance.
ReplyDeleteLimousine liberals are they?
I have a friend who fits the bill. Always wearing "socialist" gear, Che t-shirts and other stuff...while driving around in an Audi earning 150k.
The sad thing is they don't even realize they're a walking contradiction.
