Voice Offers Second Chance For Homeless Man

Everyone loves a comeback story. Michael Vick? Meh. Try Ted Williams. No, not the greatest hitter of all time. The other guy out on the streets in Columbus, Ohio.

Holy smoly, what a wicked story.

Talk about the genuine article.

One day you're out on the street, the next the Cleveland Cavaliers, Kraft and countless others are offering you so many jobs you need a person to help you pick.

Amazing.

  1. And if he couldn't sing, people would still be treating him like he was barely human. What a country, am I right?

  2. Only Bret could take an inspiring story like this and put a negative spin on it.

  3. This from a guy who claims he laughed while people jumped off the towers on 9/11.

You're one of a kind Bret. Don't change.

As for the comment itself, it has nothing to do with Americans per se. Treatment of the poor and homeless is the same if not worse in most countries. It's a human condition but somehow he tries to spin it as if it has something to do with the immorality of Americans.

    Please.

Canadians aren't any different on that front.

Here's the other thing, as uplifting as this story is, the reality is Mr. Williams put himself in that position by going on drugs and being an alcoholic.

The beauty of the story is that he seems truly contrite, reborn and has take PERSONAL responsibility for his actions. He's thankful and filled with with love. THAT'S what people are responding to I reckon.

Now let me sit back and watch him attack me for knowing nothing about psychology and poverty.

  4. Oh and let me preempt, Bret. Psychology, poverty AND alcoholism. Alcoholism and mental illness is prevalent on my father's side of the family.

I hope it all works out for this guy. He's apparently had enough run ins with the law to have a longish wrap sheet. Maybe he turns things around for himself this time.
