Be Careful What You Wish For

The other day I read that 57% of Americans think there should be a law against parents who leave their kids unattended.

Let's leave aside pure insanity and irrationality of those 57 per centers.

Maybe someone should change the question to: Would you agree parents who let their kids play in the park alone should be thrown in prison thus destroying their family?

Maybe then assholes in the 57% who just fall back on a 'there oughta be a law' would actually sit on their fucking asses and think about the consequences.

For example, a normal, sane person would say "do I want to consent to a law that could ruin a family's life over such an issue that statistically is meaningless?"

But people don't think this way. They just jump and scream. Ban guns! Tax soda! Arrest that single mother for leaving her nine year-old alone in the park!

I loath such people. I hold them in low regard.

Speaking of excessive reliance on violent laws:

That's from Culver City, LA.

I think Tacitus is appropriate:

The more corrupt the state, the more numerous the laws.
