It seems the press believes in Obama. Is it also an evidence of the independence of the press in USA from political parties?

  3. That's a good question and one I'm afraid I can only offer a remedial thought.

Yes, in theory the press in North America is independent.

However in practice some would charge they are under the control of owners (and the government) with a political message. Similar, I suppose, to Citizen Kane.

Then there's the debate about whether there is a liberal bias in the media.

But overall, this list does reveal freedom of the press still has some legs left.

I read in the Economist that "at least 27 newspapers that backed Mr Bush in 2004 have endorsed Mr Obama." It seems like there is a wave of Republicans turning to Obama because they are angry with Bush’s overall politics. Even Powell's endorsement sounds like a sentence.

Obama seems likely to win, and it is my desire too, as you know. And yet I'm not at all sure what is going to happen. Maybe too much is at stake.

  5. Yes, there have been conservatives and libertarians that have been migrating from the GOP to Obama.

I don't think it's "likely" yet. That's why they play the games so to speak. It looks good but a lot can happen until mid-November.
