Italy Bogs Salvini Down With Investigation Games

How's that for transparent populism?

So. According to three judges in Catania (Sicily) turning away migrants is kidnapping and punishable?

Interesting theory. I never realized protecting a nation's borders is a crime. Who knew?

These days though it sure has come to reach such a point.

A couple of points. Seems like Salvini is getting the Trump treatment as the 'deep state' focuses on keeping 'wrongly elected' officials should be tied up in investigations.

It has to make one wonder who exactly are they serving?

Salvini's position is clear and doesn't want Italy to answer to anyone else but itself. Not the EU. Not the UN. Not NGOs. Nobody.

To this extent, I don't see what's problematic about this.

His appeal to the people made me think about the UN's Global Migration pact Trudeau is keen on signing Canada onto. Here's one leader of a major European nation and member of the G7 standing his ground insisting Italy will handle its own affairs while the concern with the GMP will subvert Canadian sovereignty and interests to the international order. What happens if Canada's needs and interests differ or clash with the UN over this pact? Who prevails? Trudeau claims its non-binding. If so, why bother? Not that I trust a single word that comes out of his mouth.

I like Salvini's quip 'make a trafficker Minister' if you have a problem with Ministers who faithfully follow Italian law.

Outstanding. Bravo Mr. Salvini!
