Throwing Shoes Is Not Heroic

While the brother of the man who hurled a shoe at President Bush is off talking about what kind of a folk hero he is, here's an interesting (translated from Arabic) article from World Meet taking a different position. It seems this fellow has Baathist blood in him. From what I understand, throwing a shoe in Iraqi culture is extremely serious and frowned upon.

I think there's merit in the "he should have tried this with Hussein and see what happened then" line.

Interesting post and link. You know I've never been a pro Bush guy. But that person who threw the shoes in my view is just a moron. And people who are fighting for his freedom don't use their brains. Unfortunately we live in a era of extreme fanaticism.

  2. Yes. People are "reasoning" that he's a "murderer" therefore he deserves to get a shoe thrown at a him. This is shallow thinking in my opinion.

  3. On the contrary. This journalist wins my man-of-the-year award, hands down.

  4. Problem is Vig, he's an embarrassment in Iraq - from what I read anyway. He also puts in jeopardy the notion of freedom of the press and access to leaders for journalists in that country. He's a former Baathist (at least in support) so it's not hard to see where his beef comes from.

You're looking at it from the angle that it was Bush the intended target. Would you feel the same way had it been Obama?

    Nah. He's a loser.

  5. From what I read, Muntadhar al-Zaidi is already a household name, a mythical hero whose act of defiance of the occupier-in-chief has allowed Iraqis to walk tall among their Arab brethern.

You need to get out more, Lefty!

  6. I read that too...until I started digging, snooping and asking.

I think you need to get out! Maybe you're just upset because the Dodgers may not resign Manny?
