This Is ESPN

The quality of writing in the soccer section is bad.

"...City kept the pressure on and gained a very fortunate penalty decision when Aguero hooked the ball toward goal and it struck Subotic's arm at point-blank range.

Balotelli did not complain and he stepped up to despatch a cool spot-kick into the bottom corner.
The drama was not over and, fittingly, Hart had the final word as he kept out a strong drive from Lewandowski..."

Call me a stickler but there are no degrees of being "fortunate." We can get away with it when we speak as in "man, that guy was very lucky" but in terms of writing, it's not the writers job to determine that.

More bizarre, is the "Balotelli did not complain" line. Complain about what? Getting the penalty? Of course not. Why would he? What happened on the field for the writer to insert this? Turns out the Borussia Dortmund keeper was trash-talking Balotelli but we don't know why this would make him complain.

There's no context or explanation. It just assumes the reader watched the game.

Finally, the last sentence could have read:

The drama was not over and, fittingly, with Dortmund pressing at the other end in search of the go ahead goal, Hart had the final word as he kept out a strong drive from forward Lewandowski..."
