Listening to the the NHL lockout dispute, one has to shake their head at the irony. It's as if someone wrote a Marx for Millionaires handbook. Where the athletes are the proletariat only in this book they drink rare Port, bang models and hang out with celebrities.
Just don't tell me I should "empathize" or "sympathize" with anybody on either side for not making mortgage or car payments. Welcome to the real world.
With income they have, living off the interest is feasible. In the meantime, Europe offers contracts.
Three lockouts in 18 years? Ridiculous. The NHL is not doing something right. Keep this up and it could permanently halt or damage the slow growth of the brand.
I don't know why the owners (though I have no problem with the anti-union stance) had to lock the players out but given the amount of money they're arguing over, I ain't shedding a tear for hockey.
Plus, 25 million Americans are out of work.
Just saying.

What do I think about Strasburg and the decision by the Nationals to shut him down? I can only ask, why didn't they back-end his innings more especially when they saw the team's chances of winning the NL east? While one can appreciate the precaution taken to protect a young arm fresh off Tommy John surgery, opportunities like making the post-season to come all that often.
Shoot, it may never come again.
How 'bout dem Moneyball A's, eh?
Combine a pure, young, unknown five-man pitching rotation with a team that seems to be peaking perfectly, Oakland will be extremely dangerous.
