Princeton Jazz Musician Misplaces His Well-Intentioned Aims With Ballad Of Trayvon Martin

"...The goal, he said, is to pay tribute to Martin, as well as others who have been victims of racial violence."

Right.

So.

When does a musician take the leap and write a song about the countless whites murdered by blacks?

Thought so.

Look. Racial issues remain strong but I don't think Trayvon Martin is the symbol you want to use to espouse  as reported, "the work is intended "to be a form of healing and something that could be seen as a composition of hope — one that speaks to all of us to continue to work together so that children of any race, ethnicity or religious affiliation never have to meet such a tragic end."

I think the facts of the case made clear Martin was far from innocent in this tragic incident and shouldn't be elevated in the manner he is. I think this musician could have found a much, much more deserving person truly a victim of race. The Martin case wasn't it.

It's really starting to get insulting to ignore the fact that whites are more likely to be murdered by blacks.
