Wall Street Journal interviews Iron Maiden's Bruce Dickinson.
Always like Iron Maiden.
First Depardieu and now Dickinson.
Let's keep this thing rolling, man.
Dickinson speaks of "common sense." In the way he explains it, he's absolutely right. Holy Moly is he ever right. Obama once said, it was basic "common sense" for some expansionary government plan he had. Nothing politicians do is rooted in "common sense." It's rooted in whoever will get them elected.
The article is filled with neat lines and observations I've come to learn in time.
Like
"...While governments like to tout their courtship of skilled manufacturing jobs, in practice "civil servants, on some level, are almost institutionally prejudiced against entrepreneurial activity and risk..."
Quoted for truth here in Quebec. I don't now why anyone would even consider opening a serious business here. Especially in the current climate with the PQ in power.
And
"I would cheerfully pay the amount of tax I do at the moment if I didn't pay it to the government."
He's putting it politely. Let me help him. I would pay if I knew they weren't crooks and assholes looking to take my money to give it to other crooks, assholes and the lazy.
And
"Well sadly, I think I'd rather open a business in this country than the U.S.," he says. "The U.S. is—it's a minefield. Open a business in California? You must be joking. The lawyers, the taxes—people talk about high taxes here. Well, yes they are high, but in America, in the places you might really want to open a business—New York, L.A.—you've got state taxes, city taxes, state income taxes, city income taxes—you add that lot up, you're paying more over there than here."
This is the part tax defenders don't grasp - 'the' unseen if you will.
