The Quebec government, not unlike other governments who did the same, spent roughly $146 million bucks fighting H1N1. Over 70% of Quebecers and Canadians were satisfied with how public officials responded to the pandemic.
Us? As in me? I didn't get vaccinated and neither did my daughter. Her mother is allergic to eggs so...screw her. We consulted with our pediatrician (a cousin) and a friend who also is a pediatrician. They recommended it but they also weren't over zealous about it.
Boy, did people around us look at us funny when they found out. Their eyes said we were a "public menace" and were "irresponsible." Those piercing eyes of judgment charged we ignored the "greater good" and the "universal principle." Didn't we know if we didn't get the shot the terrorists win?
We had to live for others since we were faced with a pandemic.
