Our Foolish Ways

Our response to the pandemic is a catastrophe on numerous levels. We've discussed this here.

But I was asked by someone who agreed, 'But what would you do?'

It was a good question. And it took me a few moments to gather my thoughts but first a quote:

"It is as useless to fight against the interpretations of ignorance as to whip the fog." George Elliot. 

To me, everything we're doing is whipping the fog.

Another by the economist Thomas Sowell who said. "there are no solutions, just trade-offs'.

People have made the erroneous judgment that the economy is 'just money' but the economy isn't money. The economy IS nothing but human activity. It's made up of HUMANS. By not considering trade-offs we're doing damage to HUMANITY. Not the economy. 

This is why our leaders irresponsibly use words like 'frightening' as Trudeau did and 'scary' a favourite of Ford to describe the increases in cases. You can always tell propaganda is at play by the words and phrases they use. They're out of ideas. All they have is panic. This is why they are not leaders. The system is set up in a way men of low ability rise to the top. And this pandemic flushed this reality out.

So. What would I do?

Well.

I'd pull out all the stops. I'd start by increasing nurses salaries. I'd find ways to increase their ranks. If the fear is overwhelming the system, then work to temporarily take REAL measures to not make it get overwhelmed. 

So if staff is part of the system being overwhelmed, then find ways to improve it. That's what LEADERS do. They MOBILIZE a society.

The other is what many are now asking. Why didn't the government expand spaces? Again, we're supposed to be an advanced and wealthy society. So why couldn't we find warehouses, open closed hospitals, use empty lots and put up tents and so on to alleviate any pressure on hospitals? You don't need mechanical beds, you can set up beds that are functional enough to keep the patient comfortable and hook necessary equipment to them. Where there's strong leadership and a WILL there's a way.

Why aren't Arruda, Dube and Legault visiting hospitals? I know that's what I'd do. If this is an emergency as they say it is and you have stolen people's liberties, I wouldn't be chirping about the English language in Quebec as Legault and Trudeau are doing.

Another is I'd be exhausting all treatments. I would be scowering the literature to give me any damn edge. We know HCQ and Invercmectin are effective. I'd make it a national priority to get those approved. After all, one death is unacceptable as these politicians claim.

Yet, they do nothing meaningful about it. 

They say all these futile measures are for the 'greater good'. There's no such thing as the 'greater good' in the impersonal modern nation-state. If the family and community are weekend, as they currently are in North America, then how can you possibly have a 'greater good'? The base of your civilization is too weak. This is why we're doomed to fail. 

Legault is said to be a businessman. I'm starting to question what kind of a businessman he was because his political talent is wanting.

He's also failing as a human being for the destruction he's caused to our lives. 

And double this criticism for Trudeau. That is not a leader or a man.

That's a goofball. This country has lost its sense of identity and purpose under him.
