Beck claims to be...libertarian?
I like Penn. He discusses libertarianism and anarchy here.
Interesting comment he made: "Libertarians are very rules oriented."

Check out this video by Teller asking people to choose between organic and non-organic food.
*Face palm*
I'm pretty sure pesticides are not safe whether you taste them or not. The problem is, "organic" isn't even regulated, so it means nothing. You can take a shit in a box, stamp "organic" on it and someone will buy it and think "This fair trade chocolate is awfully... nutty."
ReplyDeleteI avoid the whole mess by just never eating vegetables or fruits. I get a lot of reading done on the toilet... I wish that was a joke.
Yeah, probably true but there's simply no scientific evidence to back up the assertions made by the organics.
ReplyDeleteI mix it up. To be honest, I can't tell the difference. Maybe I'm not trying hard enough. Obviously, if you eat an apple straight from the apple tree (we had an apple tree) its taste is far superior to those you buy but it's still hard to tell the difference.
And that was the point with the video. All these people just convince themselves of a belief. They think they're thinking but they're not really.
When I say mix it up, I mean the organic, non-organic produce I buy. We visit the local organic shop from time to time. My wife has allergies so it's a natural place for her. But can we say with certainty it's "healthier? I'm gonna say no.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to have choice though.
If "organic" even meant anything in the US, it might matter. I don't know if "organic" is a regulated label convention in Canada, but it isn't in the US. If organic means there are no pesticides on it, or that certain hormones aren't used, or is preservatives are not added... then maybe it would be healthier (if you don't mind bugs on your smaller, spoiled food).

I know Italy has a serious organic market. Probably the biggest in the world. When your schools are beginning to have organic cafeterias you know they mean business:

As for the bugs in the food, shoot I get that anyway when I buy straight from the farm.
