Much was made about the driver who stopped in the middle of a highway to let ducks cross the road leading to the deaths of two motorcyclists who rammed into her. I still want to know how close to the car they were.
That accident tragically led to two deaths and the driver may be charged.
The other day I was on a busy boulevard driving along on the left lane. There are no left turns from the left lane on this boulevard except for special lanes permitting them. The lights and signs are explicitly clear prohibiting left turns from a left lane. The traffic lights itself are with a straight arrow as opposed to being a solid green circle.
So what did I see? A girl trying to turn left to try and get into a oddly placed restaurant. Rather than move over less than 20 yards to the next light that would allowed her to turn left, she put everyone behind her in danger by bringing traffic to a halt on a part of the boulevard where you have no business stopping.
There's little difference in what that fool did just to go get a lousy burger. She got lucky. Lucky because, generally, people aren't driving over 100km on a boulevard and they tend to have time to hit the breaks in the face of stupidity. However, there are plenty of people who do, say, 80km and tailgate.
Common sense is a precious rare commodity now.
