    I wonder who goes about conducting some of this research, what their credentials are, and how they go about their researching.
    What methods do they use? What criteria do they go by? Their objectives...

      I don't think there's a whole lot of research going on to be quite frank. It wouldn't surprise me if they just assume their feelings or assumptions are "logical" and "correct" and move from that point on. And where they do research there's most certainly a narrative to adhere to.
