Daily Derp: Culturally Appropriating Everything In Its Path

Hardest languages to learn.

Hint. They're in Asia.

Easiest? Hint. They're Latin.

Easy and beautiful.

Italian is music to my ears.

Canada better get ready because this Syria thing can get ugly and messy in the blink of an eye.

The very likely persecution of Syria’s minorities under an extreme Sunni Islamic rule enforced by ISIS or al-Nusra front will result in millions of refugees and thousands of people killed, tortured and enslaved. With more than 60 million refugees already displaced by wars, millions more could cause the world relief system to collapse. Read more at: http://tr.im/iX7H5

"...Like several other religions, many Muslims believe in an end of time scenario that involves the emergence of a redeemer called al-Mahdi who will rule the world for seven to 19 years and fill it with justice after it was filled with injustice. Al-Mahdi — Arabic for “the guided one” — was never mentioned in the Quran, but some claim that the prophet Mohammed prophesied about him. While many Sunnis — who make up to 85 percent of Muslims — believe that al-Mahdi hasn’t been born yet, most Shiites believe that al-Mahdi is the 12th Imam and the descendent of the prophet Mohammed who disappeared in Iraq in 874 A.D. "
This organizational change has transformed the local Syrian militia into a terrorist network with a record of attacks in Texas, Paris, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Nigeria, Niger, Chad, Cameron, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Kuwait and Afghanistan. ISIS is engaged in ground wars with the governments of Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Libya, Nigeria, Cameron, Niger and Chad and is subjected to air raids by a U.S.-led coalition that includes 60 nations. Despite this, ISIS achieved another strategic victory when it captured the city of Ramadi, the capital of Iraq’s largest province last May. A tyrant appears in Damascus called al-Sufyani and an equivalent of the Christian Antichrist called “the one-eyed deceiver” appears in the border area between Afghanistan, Iran and Turkmenistan. Al-Mahdi will appear in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. A war will start that involves the capture of Istanbul and a final battle in a place called Dabiq in northern Syria. ISIS and al-Qaeda believe fully in this final battle. ISIS has chosen the name Dabiq for its online magazine. Al-Mahdi soldiers will be tall, with long black hair and beards, dressed in black and carry the prophet’s black banner, the rationale for ISIS’s and al-Qaeda’s choice of these figures in their propaganda videos

A brief history of critical thinking.

Quote of the day:

This is what Hilary had to say in response to the Kentucky clerk being jailed:

"Officials should be held to their duty to uphold the law - end of story."

Classic.

That's so Raven Hillary!

She's got balls. I'll grant her that.

Relevant:

"Just as email-gate looked to be winding down, RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned a person claiming to be a computer specialist has come forward with the stunning news that 32,000 emails from Hillary Clinton‘s private email account are up for sale. The price tag — a whopping $500,000!"

Doesn't the NFL God sides with Tom Brady...and Tim Tebow?

If the state of Maine charges Harvey Lembo they will be the enemy in this case. A man (in this case a 67 year-old who has been repeatedly a victim) has a right to defend himself in his own house.

People who look to break in and steal from citizens know damn well what the risks are.

Another 'public health isn't free' article.

The National Post commenters most disappoint me.

I expect 'but America' line from dumbasses and progressives but not them.

Oh well.

I recently learned a new word in the public health lexicon. That being 'indefinite.' As in the 'waiting time is indefinite.' We seem to be going backwards from long wait times to indefinite.

But at least we're not America!

Not a cult.

"A NURSERY has been accused of setting up a ‘Fight Club’, and then filming brawls between toddlers on Snapchat.

Two former employees at the New York nursery allegedly arranged fights between four to six-year-olds then filmed them on her mobile phone."

Some people are just sick in the head.

One of the stupidest articles you'll read today.

"...We are shocked to think that in 2015, Taylor Swift, her record label and her video production group would think it was OK to film a video that presents a glamorous version of the white colonial fantasy of Africa."

Oh shut up.

I know I can be rough with my language around here but man.

What the heck was NPR thinking publishing such nonsense?

All par for the course with the progressive left. Apparently, if you eat Vietnamese food (as I did with my daughter last night. We celebrated her having finished 7th during an 8 lap race among 24 of her fellow class mates. A big feat if you know my daughter. She ain't exactly Angie Athlete) but you're of a different ethnic heritage from Vietnamese (as we are) this is called 'cultural appropriation. If you're white and enjoy blues music, it's cultural appropriation because it's the music of American blacks. And so on.

What these ignoramuses don't realize - or they do but choose to be slaves to their myopic racial identities - is human history is but about cultural appropriation.

It's nothing but about humans exchanging ideas. Constantly borrowing from one another and eventually settling in various places.

Years ago during a Russian history class, the professor (of Greek heritage) expressed disgust with Greeks who were fighting in the streets of Toronto over Macedonia - a piece of dry land no one will develop properly anyway.

He said to the class Alexander the Great is no more Macedonian or Greek at this point because he now belongs to the world's heritage.

Which made me think of Leonardo da Vinci. A genius so great it's hard to simply say he's Italian. He was from Italy but he's at the apex of what the human mind can achieve and in this way, he belongs to the world.

To enjoy their historical legacies is not to culturally appropriate. It's to celebrate humanity.

You effen idiots.

Renaissance Italy is another example. What made Italy the United States during, say, the 13th century to the 18th century? It absorbed, through trade and innovation, the many cultures and ideas that came to its shores and spread through its streets and into the rest of Europe like blood travels through veins.

Italy staggering cultural wealth is unrivaled in Europe (and arguably the world) because of the many cultures and peoples that came to it. It wasn't achieved on its own. No country can do that.  It's by way of open borders (that is, no restrictive ideals) can one reach such heights. If they don't, they become envious, stagnant, and irrelevant.

Italy provided the intellectual environment as well as the economic atmosphere that attracted the best minds. It (keep in mind when we say Italy we mean the city-states of Milan, Florence, Siena, Genoa, Venice etc. because Italy was never a country until the 19th century), then took what it learned and came up with uniquely a Italian spin on things. Between Rome and the Renaissance, Italy remained the wealthiest peoples in Europe right up to about the mid-18th century. In fact, there are still parts of Italy among the wealthiest in the world.

This is precisely what the United States offers modern humanity. It is the 'go to' place for people with ideas; who want opportunities. For people who want a better life. America's real genius, like Italy before it, is to absorb the world's body and mind and make it uniquely American.

Look at it this way. Humans have an unending desire to progress. Unfortunately, they don't necessarily live in places that foster and nurture this desire. The United States does this better than anyone including Canada. How do we know this? Just look at the innovation that come out of it and the percentage of people who (sometimes risk their lives) to go there. Cananda

Name me one country on the planet that offers what the United States does. Through it, you get the sense of what Renaissance Italy was to Europe too.

Tangent aside. Point is....

There is no such thing as cultural appropriation. That's just, I guess, Marxist inspired rubbish. A theory ('appropriated' by progressives) so corrosive it's eroding our enlightened liberal heritage. It's for the closed mind. One that does not consider or accept the human aspect of our achievements.

If you're badgering humanity with pointless articles like the one above from NPR (and the endless onslaught on human reason from Salon and its ilk) you're not contributing much to the human experience. You're actually stand in the way of progress.

Recalibrate your mind or...

Get the fuck out of the way.

  1. Everyone and everything is integral.
We've read each other's books and listened to each other's records and have been influenced by all of them.
Most things that exist are derivative, comprising elements of other people's inventions upon which we layer on some of our own inventive elements. Few things still exist in their "pure" form.
