It's funny, I was just thinking that the other day. If the Democrats are soooo in tune with the Hispanic vote (or any other ethnic vote for that matter) why is it that the GOP seems to have the real star candidate power in its ranks?
The GOP video at their convention about Hispanic Republicans was interesting.

I'm also tired of listening to the lies about the upbringing of politicians. Sure, some are authenticate but right now it's taking a cynical turn if you ask me.
It's all theater.

Speaking of theater, apparently style matters over substance.
The Democrats were very animated and forceful in their delivery of speech (Jennifer Granholm wtf?), and were indeed more entertaining than their GOP counterparts (Demmywood!), but really, when you have to rely on GM as proof your economic policy is working you have problems.
I know much has been made of Clinton's speech, but again, it was more of the same old, same old. He just sounds so good telling it! I guess people have forgotten his own Presidency was an average period. I suppose when you measure it against Bush-Obama, it looks great but does that point to the low level of standards now?
Cicero was good at it, but Obama is no Cicero.
Where's the content is what I would like to know.
I have been mystified as to why Obama is seen as a "great" orator. Anyone reading from a teleprompter should be able to do so without a lot of "uhs" and "ums" and he utters those in almost every sentence.
ReplyDeleteClinton had a good second term (not counting the intern scandal), his first was ho hum. And most of what he is noted for was in compromising with the Republican controlled House and Senate.
But, as they say, that is politics.
He's a terrible orator. Anyone with a simple grasp of political history would understand this. I can't for the life of me get it when so-called educated pundits say this.
ReplyDeleteI've observed and posted about his stuttering "uhs" and "erms" in the past.
I'll do one better, he's not even a thinker.
The Democrats as a whole aren't thinkers but activists. Biden and Granholm seemed to think by shouting it was a replacement for substance. Worse, you know you have issues in the middle of the line-up (so to speak) when you have to flutter a faux-agitator in Fluke out there.
As they kept pushing speakers out, I wondered "but what have these people accomplished?" to be given such a platform?
I don't get the overall direction of this party.
It all adds up to, no matter how you dice it, government is your friend. And the utterly vague "we're all in this together" nonsense.
