My take with Iran was always one of engagement. That country is nowhere near the insane as its leadership. It has a vibrant resistance movement ready to ignite and as such needs support.
On the other hand, to conservatives, this is the kind of courage needed to once and for all stand against states like Iran. They see it in a "Cold War" context where, in the larger picture, Russia is the key player supported by the likes of Iran and Venezuela.
I once thought much the same about Cuba. I thought then (in the early 60's) that what seemed to work in Yugoslavia with Tito could work in Cuba. But Castro was/is no Tito and I have since changed my mind. There should not have been a Cuban Embargo but there's no real reason to lift it anymore.
ReplyDeleteThe thing about the Cuba embargo is that while it doesn't help Cuba, Cuba was still free to trade with the EU and Canada.
ReplyDeleteSo Cuba's decadence is all on Castro and his shitty communism.
