A legendary player has left a legendary team. After 19 years, Alessandro Del Piero - a World Cup, Scudetto and Champions League champion - has signed with Sydney of Australia.
Juventus has always produced remarkable teams with its players sometimes making up the backbone of the national side.
I always loved his playing style. It had a certain, deliberate, methodical beat that often mesmorized. Del Piero wouldn't beat you with speed, much like his contemporary Pirlo, he knocked you out with brains and technique.
With many of the players from the 2006 Italian world cup winning team passing on into retirement a few are holding off finding homes abroad to complete their playing days including here in North America in MLS. Alessandro Nesta being a notable signing here in Montreal.
Del Piero was a blast to watch at Juve all these years. Italy's loss is Australia's gain.
