From Faux Capitalist.
"In the third hour of the program, at 21:28, he stated that when Medicare was introduced in 1965, it was estimated to cost $9 billion by 1990. Instead, he (Charles Goyette) said, it actually cost $67 billion by then — a 744% underestimation."
This is the sort of stuff I'm looking for with regards to the Canadian model. I'm not surprised at all one bit. If we can't calculate the gun registry properly (we were off by roughly 1500%; not 15% One thousand five hundred!), imagine public health! Say what you want about the capitalist system or the private sector, but at least heads would roll and companies would sink if they squandered like this.
Canada introduced medicare in 1967 I believe. The Liberal party slogan in 1965 during their campaign? "Good Things Happen When a Government Cares About People."
Fucken-A.
Happiness is a warm gun momma. Man, there's a comedy sketch in there somewhere. I can just feel it.
Just because something is good in theory (and makes us all feel good inside) doesn't mean the check book should be left blank.
Right?
Right.
And since we're on American health. Is it true medical bills are responsible for 50% of bankruptcies?
