Misconceptions Of Ideologies Abound

Great resource exploring confusions regarding political ideologies.

  1. By the way, I started looking at those "examples of racism." One wasn't an elected official, one was a woman talking about Vietnamese voters in Spanish... I'm not sure how that's offensive (maybe if she called them gooks or zipperheads or something), and I pretty much stopped looking after that.

I'm going to start a post on SE tomorrow asking for examples of 21st century elected Democrats making actually racist remarks. I'll even accept someone who said something racist 50 years ago and is an office-holding Democrat.

I plan to be underwhelmed by actual examples and overwhelmed with more empty links to people whining about a blogger who knew a guy who once met Obama who said something about how Tea Partiers are racist (that was literally one of the first two I look at) or a Democrat talking about demographics votes (like talking about the Vietnamese in the same respect as every Democrat and Republican talks about the Hispanic demographic).

I don't understand why you think there's examples of racist Democrats. Are the socialist Republicans, only they don't want us to know?

  2. [Sorry I posted this here totally out of context, but the other thread was getting buried and bloated.]

  3. Oh sure. Bloat this thread up.

She was running as a democrat. Let's not get crazy here.

Bret, if a Rep. said it...

You've got to be kidding me. I think there's more than enough evidence there. Reid wasn't racist? Sounds like your over rationalizing everything.

In today's charged atmosphere it passes as racist.

I guess all those Dixiecrats won't make the cut?

It's kinda hard to impress you when you seem to have your own criteria of what constitutes racism.

I'll look forward to the SE post.

  4. Cynthia McKinney?

By the way, the challenge was for ONE.

Mckinney, Reid and that chick make the cut as far as I'm comcerned.

Once again, if you don't consider Reid to be an ass then that's your problem.

    I mean, Bret. Come on.

The degree of it is up for debate of course. Sure, I don't think Clinton is "racist" but the comments are curious and racial at their base.

    This can't be denied.

  8. You'e pointing me to stuff where Democrats talk about race. Show me an elected Democrat saying something racist.

Example: Forwarding an email with a picture of an airplane crashing into black people that says: "Fun Niggers Run!"

Can you point me to anything actually racist, or just lots of stuff about how Democrats in the 1960s fought for segregation?

You're reaching for ridiculous straws here. Instead of inundating me with the task of doing your research, find one single example. Don't send me ten links to stuff where conservative bloggers go off for paragraphs about how racist taking about "the Vietnamese" is.

I pay attention on a daily basis to American politics, and I have never heard a Democrat in my adult life (which roughly coincides with 1999) say anything even remotely racist. Not make a comment about race, I mean make a comment that is clearly offensive. If you can even find a white candidate offering a black person watermelon, I'll consider it, but I haven't even seen you present anything remotely close to that.

And this isn't a reason to vote Democrat, just the empirical reason why black people generally dislike Republicans.
