The other day I used the term neo-jacobins to describe various aggrieved left-wing individuals and groups who espouse the use of coercive action backed by the state to push their views and agendas.
Neo-Jacobins fits their world view perfectly. To me, if you advocate for the imprisonment of people for, say, being a 'global warming denier' you're a neo-Jacobin.You want to suppress one's right to freedom of thought and expression because it doesn't fit a prevailing narrative. Just look at any college or university campus in North America.
Not exactly bastions of intellectual freedom these days.
Mark Levin used another term this evening - extreme egalitarianism. Another he mentioned was statist utopionism.
This is precisely what they are.
