Nationalists shouldn't be playing that "it's our land" game. When asked about why the Cross will still be permitted in the National Assembly they will answer "it's part of our heritage and culture." Perhaps, but also contrary to their "equality" assurances of attaining a secular society. Right off the bat they've lost both the rhetorical and logic game.
People aren't stupid. The 'it's our land' game doesn't end at Quebec because it says so. The fact is the Natives will always have a say and in this part of the debate, they won't concede it belongs to Quebec. Therein lay the opening for murmurs that if Quebec can secede from Canada, and Natives from Quebec than so too can Montreal.
Quebec hasn't even begun to acknowledge or even discuss the matter with Natives (the Montreal matter is met with rolling eyes...for now) should they ever achieve their wet dream.
