More On Quebec's Charter For Clowns

"...If we let Pauline Marois and Bernard Drainville have their way, Quebec will take a huge step in the wrong direction. But if we stand up to them and their narrow-minded allies and ensure that this odious Charter is relegated to the dust bin, we will send a strong message about the kind of place we want Quebec to be: open, cosmopolitan and free. The choice is ours."

I agree with the author's assessment of the roots of the Charter. It's an insular outlook wrapped and warped in the language of inclusion.

Notice the terms we have here:

"Minister Responsible for Democratic Institutions and Active Citizenship, Bernard Drainville."

As for Drainville, some piece of work this guy.

The ignorance shown by the Parti Quebecois about other religions is shocking. I mean, astounding to mythical proportions. I think most of us outside the tribe of the PQ knew they were a bunch of banjo players, but this is really something. Read Drainville's retarded statements in the link. Not interested in rehashing it here.

If that's not communistic jingoism I don't know what is. Be wary of places who continuously need to remind you about how free and democratic they are.

It's preposterous that in Canada this is even a discussion.

What I find, ultimately, most hilarious is how Quebec intellectual mock the "hombriste" instinct of Americans. I'm sorry. America has nothing on Quebec when it comes to regressive attitudes towards immigrants. You will NOT find this sort of thinking finding its way to an amendment in the Constitution. Yet, here in Quebec it has a chance to pass as law.

On the issue of immigrant and religious rights, Canada and the USA are superior in their thinking to Quebec.

And that's a fact.
