Quote Of The Day

It's a doozy.

A whopper.

"During a May appearance on The Rachel Maddow Show, Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) stated that right to bear arms is not "God-given." He challenged the claim that the Founding Fathers wanted U.S. citizens armed so they could repel a tyrannical government, claiming that it was "insane." In effect, Senator Murphy attempted to discredit the legality of the Second Amendment by stating, "The Second Amendment is not an absolute right, not a God-given right. It has always had conditions upon it like the First Amendment has."

And false.

This is classic strawman.

Yes, the Founding Fathers were "insane." /rolls eyes.

The natural, inalienable rights of man, according to them, flowed from God and his authority. I don't think there can be much dispute here. So his argument is moot off the bat.

The government has no right to, in effect, remove one's right to self-defense. Simple as that. The people are right on the issue of the 2nd amendment. The Founding Fathers were right.

Modern politicians and pundits who want "conditions" placed are in the wrong.

Moreover, and ironically, murder rates have been on the decline in the USA for decades so even the data doesn't support their emotional pleas wrapped up in rational rhetoric.

I think, the problem is, people like Murphy read into the Constitution through contemporary lenses and fail to apply profound thought to what is in it.

There are no conditions. Only progressive statists and tyrants want to believe that.
