Daycare Update

I going over my affairs with the daycare's potentially new book keeper the other day. Among the topics discussed were salaries. Salaries, as with most businesses with over head, are your biggest costs. The cost is increased because of payroll taxes.

Personally, I think payroll taxes at about 20% is outrageous and amounts to theft.

The book keeper is aware of this and could only nod in agreement. It is a heavy load.

But hey, social democracy and the "social contract" created and signed by others but not me.

I accept taxes. I don't think eliminating them is realistic, pragmatic, wise or just. We all have to kick in something. But the progressive model is anything but wise and just. It's a method to confiscate more based on intimidation and arbitrary models and perceptions of what "wealth" is.

Thus you get a situation where Quebec thinks $130 000 a year is "rich" ergo slap them. Forget they can further enhance an economy by spending, purchasing a building or start their own business. Nah.

Better to suffocate and confiscate.

More importantly, it was a bittersweet moment for us last week when our first child moved on to kindergarten.

When I first opened, I had two children and one of them was, let's call her 'Maggie.'

Precocious and temperamental, she quickly became the Queen of our daycare and remained so until she left.

We established a wonderful relationship with her parents. On the day they left, there were emotions to be sure and they greatly appreciated how we took special care of their daughter.

All I can say is good luck and all the best in the future Maggie.
