I just watched High Noon.
Wonderful movie.
There have been a few movies where the plot pissed me off and this one is no different.
The way his friends and the town abandoned him was awful.
Bunch of gutless, miserable, cowards. Rather than fight to ensure evil didn't take over their town, they coiled in fear.
He ended up winning in the end.
It was fitting Marshall Will Kane (Gary Cooper) flung his badge to the ground as he left town.
It sounds like you just saw it for the first time. Great movie though, I saw it years ago, have the DVD and need to watch it again. It's a Western and considered one of the greatest Westerns of all time, but the plot itself could be set in another time and place. Then again, there is something about the Old American West as a setting that adds to almost any story.
ReplyDeleteYup. First time. Saw the response to it by John Wayne - Rio Bravo - first.
ReplyDeleteIt's not only one of the top Westerns but top movies of all-time.
I don't know what it is with those old flicks but they're absolute gems.
