This is an interesting debate with regards to Climategate. Barbara Boxer - who is the Democratic chairwoman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee - is less concerned about the disgraced scientists and more so with the hackers who broke into the emails. In other words, she would have been perfectly happy to let the lies go on by. The hackers, in this instance, are like whistleblowers. On the other hand, she's right about the right to protection and privacy.
The other point, this made by a scientist in the thread, is whether this will all blow over only to claim a few misbehaving scientists. People who believe global warming is a hoax aren't looking at it that way. They see it as proof of the corrosive scamming and lies perpetuated by a select few people of interest to profit off man-made global warming.
The question, after all this, remains: Is man largely to blame for this? I still haven't seen irrefutable proof of this.
