This comes by way of Wind Rose Hotel - helping this blog keep abreast of what's going down across the poin in You-rup. Interesting stance taken by Switzerland. Would that happen in Britain, France, Germany or Italy?
This story really has legs. I've gotten into a discussion with a Swiss woman (which she broke off) when I called her upon her using Gadhaffi as an excuse. But I was most impressed with this. I have to tell you....
That's a very interesting article. Thanks. We do take it for granted that the Jews would naturally "ally" or "align" themselves with Christians. Not true. Islam and Judaism do have a long historical past together.
And yes, it's hard to see what is legitimate and reactionary. We seem to be heading into a reactionary avenue when it comes to Muslims.
Here in Quebec, an intensely parochial society, it comes in the form of "reasonable accommodation." Does wearing a burqa really represent an onslaught on our ways? Of course not. We're a pluralist and tolerant society - at least we're supposed to be.
