Daily Derp: Sitting Around Waiting For Politicians To Catch Up To The Science Is Not An Option

 Dr. Tam is pissing me off to no end. Either officials have some kind of game plan in place or they're just incompetent clowns. Or maybe both. Who knows anymore?

But they're definitely not handling this phase of the pandemic with any kind of reasoned rationale. Ostensibly, it may sound all so objective and scientific, but it's not.

Not a shred of what they're doing is rational.

Two things they keep doing that stuns me.

One, is they keep people in fear. Notice how since May they kept warning us about 'second waves' in the fall. The mantra was repeated so often they came to believe it and the public ate it up. Now all people did was live for the fall and second waves. Since May tucked in the back of everyone's minds was the idea the virus was going to swirl back and really finish us off. The media made sure to interview doctors that took this notion to the extreme. It formed the foundation for the pseudo-science driving mask mandates.

Even though cases, hospitalizations and deaths dramatically levelled off thus 'flattening the curve', the new narrative became 'let's not be complacent because of the second wave'. So, since June, we've all been in our nuclear bunkers waiting; watching sunny days pass us by....for a second wave. The panic over Universities and Colleges is just the latest example of our absurd reaction. So far there have been around 11 300 cases on campuses but ZERO hospitalizations.

So not to be caught like we did in April, officials have implemented an excessive protocol that has people in masks and schools tuned into cinder block cages. We're in a war buffoons say. If this is a war, then it's the equivalent of being invaded by Grenada but prep as though the Soviet Union is invading. It's our Wolverine! moment apparently.

The problem with over shooting like this allowing for a misapplication of the precautionary principle is that it completely distorts our psyche and how we interpret and respond to challenges in the future.

What will happen when a true killer virus hits us? We've weakened the mettle of the population to the point now they think vaccines are a panacea. The governments of North America have been derelict in setting this tone and Dr. Tam has been the face of this failure. Not considering the psychological impacts of this is irresponsible. You can't make a declaration that makes people sacred and then micro-manage around it. This is what Tam and others like Arruda do.

'Be afraid. But live your life!' So out of control the messaging she now sees it fit to tell people to wear a mask during sex.

I need not go over that she and Arruda both CORRECTLY explained why masks are useless and that they shifted their opinions and reversed course. The main excuse? They offer an added layer of protection (they do not because if you follow the actual data on the studies and listened to what they said, it shows this to be false. How can masks offer an extra layer of protection all of a sudden? No new studies came that debunk the body of evidence over decades. They just offer a rebuttal. That's it. The science is still on the side of no masks) and to stop asymptomatic spread (which is becoming more and more not likely. We've suspected the spread was rare and the WHO has not changed its stance on that. Fauci basically said as much when the CDC announced testing for asymptomatic people is not necessary. It's the big lie in this pandemic. It's the equivalent of 'HIV causes Aids' because we will get horrible policies based on this lie. Already psychologically people have been taught to treat everyone as a threat. That will take a long time to rectify - if at all for some. Great job Tam and Arruda and Legault ).

My concern here is we've put ourselves in a corner where we may make everything mandatory from testing to vaccines and it's completely unjustified. What are we going to do when a kid gets the sniffles? Panic and shut down schools? We're completely misreading everything. Politics has taken over science. 

Madness.

The cases onto themselves aren't cause for concern and neither is reinfection. If you have 300 cases, one death, and no hospitalizations how by any standard can this be construed as a public health menace in a population of millions?

How?

But there's Mother Tam telling us to be terrified of a 25% increase in cases. We went from 250 to 310 cases! Be afraid! She's been talking this way since frickin March. It's astonishing as it is unhinged as it is troubling.

This is exactly how hysteria works. Take a mild situation and turn into something major. 

Sweden, Denmark, Holland and Norway have no mask mandates. Russia and Italy opened their schools with no masks. These places have been hit way harder than Canada and haven't gone as bonkers. They seem wise enough to draw the line at masks.

Canada and the United States (along with the UK, New Zealand and Australia, Germany and France) on the other hand, buy into junk science to drive public pandemic policy.

I don't know how we can chart the course back into sanity. We've mishandled this so badly it'll be a challenge fixing it.

I stand by my prediction made in March declared on this blog: This will go down as one of the greatest - if not greatest - health scare panics in modern history.

And we know who the actors were in this sordid play.

We should all be infuriated.
