I have a stack of books (eight to be exact) to read and just completed the first one off the list: The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger. Dunno 'bout you guys, but Holden (the main protagonist) reminds me of Max Fischer; although less humorous, resourceful and redeeming but the angst and sense of loss is there nonetheless.
Which brings me to a private web-inspired encounter I had with an Italian man who shall remain nameless. He pointed to his "bi-polar" tendencies. Specifically, how he enjoyed "dolce vita" and "dura vita." Muffin in one hand, uzi in the other. The ebb and flow of glorifying force (like early 20th century Italian Futurist artists) while looking longingly at a Quaker cereal box. Life.
People, lo and behold, lead complicated, conflicted and contradictory lives - either externally, internally or both.
