Battle of Megiddo

I'm pretty sure they didn't speak Arabic in 15th century b.c Egypt.

  1. I feel ripped off for watching the whole thing and not understand what the hell you're talking about.

  3. Explain yourself, sir!

I spent 15 minutes in addition to watching this trying to see if I missed something, and all I came up with was that Egyptian was indeed not a Semitic language (therefore not linguistically linked to Arabic). But... I'm still confused.

  4. Oh, and I was happy, once...

    *looks off in the distance*

...but that was a long time ago.

  5. I'm rarely happy. Bitter really. Love to drink bitter too. Love bitter vegetables as well.

I dunno. I'm just saying I doubt the Egyptians spoke the Arabic we hear in the video.

  6. OOOOOOOOOOOOOH. I didn't think about that. They're speaking Arabic? I thougbt it had something to do with "Megiddo" being where the end of the world's battle would take place, so I was distracted for a while by that.

  7. You are quite right about that, just as the Romans did not speak today's Italian nor the Athenians today's Greek. Even the Arabs do not speak the Arabic of that time and Aramean is a dead language as is Slavon the liturgical language of the Serbs, Russians, etc.
Nobody anywhere speaks the language as spoken 4 ooo years ago.
