Regardless of tonight's election result - and it's good news the Liberals are in the lead - this time around the PQ over played their hand to the point of utter disgust.
It's like they completely lost their fucking minds with all the nativist, xenophobic sabre rattling. If listen to the far right party of Le Pen in France, it's almost the exact same rhetoric.
Bill 14, the Charter, the OLF, forcing history classes in CEGEP, blocking access to English-language education - it's too much. It's declasse and evil.
It's not acceptable in a free society to have to deal with a party and intellectual culture that constantly seeks to suppress and use punitive measures to 'protect the majority.' 'We're not racist but!' is not a fucking excuse to trample on civil liberties.
Perhaps it's all empty populist rhetoric and the PQ may very well be a dying breed but that divisive crap corrodes the fabric of a peaceful society.
It's not surprising then, after talking to a few of my friends, we've all come to the same conclusion. It's over for Quebec. It's an economic sinking ship and no one wants to do a damn thing about it - not even the CAQ who have not even denounced the idiotic pipe dream of separation.
So, like my wife and I are aiming to do, we're all looking to give our children better opportunities elsewhere. Like our ancestors did in search of a better life, we're doing the same for our children.
The damage was done. The ugliness of Pauline Marois and her ilk is not who we are.
Farewell to deadbeats.
