American and Canadian diaspora.
Not surprisingly, there are more Canadians in American than vice-versa. My guess is most Americans here are asked to do so by their companies - temporarily or otherwise. Moving for for a 'better life' is probably negligible since you can pretty much match Canada's standard of living anywhere in the U.S. I reckon. Massachusetts, New York, Minnesota, California, for example, are pretty liberal even by Canadian standards.
On the flip side, economically speaking especially, it shouldn't shock anyone Canadians head south for better opportunities.
Interestingly, Canada ranks 5th where Americans relocate.
