Parole was (rightly) denied to former Charles Manson follower Leslie Van Houten. She asked for her freedom but really, how can she get that given the heinous and horrific nature of those crimes. In the article it alludes to Dante's hell in the Inferno - indeed it's where her and that gang of murderers belong.

A homecoming queen from a good family it says in the article. Imagine that. Whatever she claims today, this picture serves as a good reminder about what the mindset was after the crimes. Usually a real human with a soul is consumed by remorse and guilt. Do they look like they have a soul? Smiling arrogantly and without shame or a conscience.

Pictures do speak to us clearly sometimes.
