Pondering Cereal

The problem with Corn Pops is they get too soggy too fast.

  1. I stay away from all corn based cereals as a matter of health and principle. Most (or a good percentage) of the corn crop has been genetically modified, plus, I don't believe corn is very good for you anyway. I try to stay away from grains in general (they are not necessary for human health or nutrition) except for a little rice and sometimes, oats.

On the soggy question, I'm a pretty fast eater (too fast, some would say) so I've rarely run into the "too soggy, too fast" problem. Reminds me though of an old Peanuts cartoon, where Linus pours himself a bowl of cereal, adds the milk, then goes searching quickly for something to read whiles he eats, gets back and, yep, his cereal is soggy.

  2. I bet you I eat faster.

I only eat corn pops because my daughter, who likes to eat the small variety packs, doesn't eat them. So the Raisin Bran, Rice Krispies and Frosted Flakes get eaten. I have to stop buying them. Even then, I think I've eaten maybe three small boxes of it in my life.

As for corn itself, yeah, well, grilled corn on the cob is delicious - and much better than the crustaceous crap people love.
