Mirror, Mirror On The Wall...Am I That Ugly? How Progressive Humor Is Lame

Of the many sinful logical fails progressives commit, I often cite the practice of imposing contemporary narratives on history as egregious.

They'll take, for example, a 'woke' issue like transgender and read a book from the 19th century and declare it ignorant or racist completely oblivious to the epoch or period in which the art derived. Contextualization, perspective and scale does not factor into their thought process.

Hence, Mark Twain is a racist for saying 'nigger' in his book. No discussion. He used a bad word in their view.

It's profoundly anti-humanist on so many levels and has found its way into academia and the political classes as we recently saw with California's repeated attempts at censorship with the most recent act of aiming to ban books written by ex-gays.

And dare if you must to tell the truth at your own risk as professor Stuart Card at Syracuse University tried:

“I strongly believe that reinforcing the current myth that individuals are likely to be damaged by exposure to expressions that they find offensive, and thus require pampering, is a disservice to our students and our profession,” he began.
“I know my view on this is out of sync with current opinion,” he conceded, but recalled how difficulties he encountered as a young person had “toughened” him and made him stronger, and argued that “coddling promotes weakness.”

So unwoke, yet so true. Meanwhile, Fresno keeps that classless half-wit on staff. Gotta keep the myth going I suppose.

Anyway, progressives are raging not only a war on science but literature as well. They're Neo-Puritans.

****

And the progressive brand of comedy is also running its lame course. I know pop mainstream media does its darnedest to prop up mediocre comedians like Trevor Noah and attempt to frame late night talk show hosts like Colbert and Oliver as 'smart' or Meyers and Kimmel as voices of 'common sense' but evolved enthusiasts of humour and satire know better.

Remember Maher's joke?

"I can’t even begin to understand the average Trump supporter…possibly because my mother didn’t drink while she was pregnant.”

Yuk, yuk, yuk.

These people are more like court jesters and partisan minstrels gladly playing the part of useful idiots to cater to their group think crowds.

That's what makes them so terrible. We see right through it. There's nothing there. It's not comedy in high resolution. South Park, as usual, got right to the heart of it:

Michelle Wolfe is another example who recently made headlines when she hosted the White House Correspondents' Dinner for all the wrong reasons. Indeed, when you lose NPR, perhaps you need to rethink your craft a little.

"One example from Wolf's routine: "And I'm never really sure what to call Sarah Huckabee Sanders, you know? Is it Sarah Sanders, is it Sarah Huckabee Sanders, is it Cousin Huckabee, is it Auntie Huckabee Sanders? What's Uncle Tom but for white women who disappoint other white women? Oh, I know. Aunt Coulter."

So much for women's power.

The thing is, if you're going to take shots, you're going to have to craft your hate in a much more intelligent way. If you don't, it comes off exactly as people interpret it: Mean spirited for its own sake. She hates Trump and his politics so much she hates the women who works with him. She's not being satirical. She was making a political point.

So brave to take a trendy shtick and pretty it to be 'truth to power'.

I call it stupid and lame.

Of course, don't expect any modicum of self-awareness from her. Just the usual smart-alec responses and half-hearted quips about 'free speech' blah, blah.

Yup. Free speech.

But you're still an idiot.
