What Is Libertarianism?

At the six minute mark, PJ O'Rourke asks people "need to stop asking government for help." Something I've been writing about for a while. In my terms, instead of "the government should" the narrative needs to switch back to "I should" with the emphasis on "I."

Once we reverse the trend a little, only then can we spared like we see here in Quebec public monopolies earning millions without competition handing out hefty bonuses to SAQ, Hyrdo and Loto Quebec workers. Seriously. Think about that for a second. Digest it.

Corporations are no better. We have to be equally vigilant against them too for they too squish and step on individuals where they can. However, I'm nowhere near Obama's populist and simplistic "they bilk poor us" stance. All that does is shift the power from corporations to the state.

At the seven minute mark listen attentively to Stossel's history lesson for it's pretty much how it evolved. Liberals once stood for what libertarians and some conservatives now want to preserve. Liberals have abandonded that route for a more socialist outlook. The modern liberal, to me, has no business claiming Thomas Jefferson, John Stuart Mill, John Locke or Adam Smith. They cut those ties in the early 20th century.

Thanks to SE once again.
