More Perspectives On Arizona Law

As I've mentioned, there is legitimate concern for police abuse. Shoot, here in Quebec three black people were shamelessly "cited" by the cops for the following "infractions": For being slouched over against a wall in the metro fighting a stomach ailment, setting a school bag on a park bench and for merely having the temerity for sitting on the passenger side of an idle car around midnight at a local tabagie.

But there remains this issue: How to preserve the rule of law and balance it against civil liberties? Seems to me Americans really, really need to quit quarelling for its own sake and get it done.

Another thing that intrigues me is that for all their "freedom" talk, conservatives (who naturally like the law which has since been amended) do tolerate government interference when it suits them. Liberals, for their part, who are hollering over this really shouldn't because they're even worse at accepting government chipping away at personal freedoms.
