More Complicated Than Setting Colored Lines; Ukraine Is Not America's Fight

Not surprisingly, some editorials are angling the U.S. make some noise in the Russia-Ukraine issue by sending in battleships.

To do accomplish what, I'm not sure.

As I posted earlier, America is better served by sitting this one out and let it unfold. It makes no sense for them to get involved in Russia's back yard anymore if they Russkie's intervened in Mexico or Canada.

Yeah, yeah international laws blah, blah.

We all know those laws are extremely pliable.

This is not going into Syria or Libya or Egypt or any other tin pot country with a dictator.

This is Russia.

The same Russia that swallowed Napoleon and Hitler after grave military miscalculations. Absent of any real tactics, the Russians allowed their unforgivable climate and endless streams of sacrificial bodies to stain the snow with blood.

The same Russia that has one of the world's strongest armies with enough fire power that can take out American battalions.

The same Russia with nuclear capabilities.

Ukraine, for its part, despite its record of playing pawn to European powers in the past, possesses a strong army itself.

'We must do something, anything' in this context, is foolish - if not arrogant.

Once more, Obama is being put to the test. His foreign policy record has been spotty at best, incoherent in parts, aloof in its puzzlement brought to a spectacular failure in Syria where he was out maneuvered by Putin.

This will confirm whether what came before were just anomalies further complicated by circumstances out of his control (though he walked into the Syria trap himself) or he doesn't in fact possess the diplomatic skills in a dangerous situation.

Reminds me when Michael Corleone said to his brother Tom Hagan, 'you're not a war-time consiglieri, Tom. You're out.'

We'll see if Obama is a war-time consiglieri.
