"When I was a kid (in the 60s) if the teacher punished you for misbehavior you got worse when you got home."
I love this quote in relation to this (poorly written) article. Yeah, it's got a certain 'bag in my day, shake fist' feel to it but I'm guessing it's probably true.
Parents today can't accept the fact they may have assholes for children. It's almost as if they've abandoned parenting but refuse to let once respect authority figures discipline their jerk off kids.
They also over rate their kids and are all shocked when they look no better than anybody else in the real world.
I'm still peeved about an incident that happened at my place involving a 10 year old. I feel the parents did not deal with it properly. If it were me, a completely different approach.
It really pissed me off that they chose to ask questions and then accept the answer without disciplining the child and replacing the damaged items in question. It's outrageous really. Regardless of the answer, there was damage and there should be consequences.
Bah.
