All To Blame

People are asking if it's the law (Bill 101), the bureaucrats or the politicians to be faulted for the sad situation in Quebec (commenters at Reason Magazine have now offered some of their thoughts to add to the already sizable sample of places that have done so)?

It's a little of all. I blame first and above all the politicians. They're the ones that choose to politicize social life by enshrining such actions into law. No one can get jailed for it but they are fined and do feel psychologically offended. The 'War Pigs' are the ones who set the tone of the narrative and send the cues to society. Ever notice that this crap always happens under the PQ?

Of course it does. When you have Twit Marois going off on TV frothing at the mouth about defending Quebec as if it's still 1837 (from what I don't know, maybe Samsquatch) no wonder the low-information zombies come out of  Lac Perdu in force in defense of le pays.

The Liberals are fools as well for playing into this pathetic game. They should not have endorsed the OLF by hiring more inspectors. So they are part to blame as well even though the party doesn't think like the PQ.

The law is the law and the bureaucrat has to enforce it. It'll enforce it to the degree it is pressured to do so. When the Liberals are in power, it's more soft when the PQ are in power, it hardens its stance.

However, I ain't ready to give a pass to the poor fonctionnaire. The job attracts low class individuals to begin with and if not, ideologically driven individuals. That's it. You think you're gonna get world class, jet set, accomplished people at the OLF?

What sort of person decides busting other people's balls is a good career choice? Who gets up in the morning wanting to harass people? People who enjoy the sort of thing the OLF does, that's who. The job description is not to understand Rome's Republican period or understanding the larger context of what constitutes freedom of thought, expression and speech in Western civilization. It's only mandate is to preserve and protect one language at the expense of others. That's all. Simple.

No need to whitewash this. Call it for what it is.

So I do blame the bureaucrat because while they're doing their jobs, they freely chose to go work for the OLF as if it's some sort of Hall of Justice; except the Super Friends are long gone.

It's the Trifecta.

There's no doubt in my mind the nationalist movement will probably die a painful death. Nationalist movements usually tend to die off. It will only exist in the minds of people but in terms of being a valid political option, it's incompatible to the realities of the Internet Age. The web is like tsunami of cultures coming at you and we're only in its infancy. Quebec will have to go Iran, Cuba, China and North Korea if it wants to fight this. And try to keep Rush (Geddyleesburgh!) away from Quebecers!

Quebec is best to take it in and evolve with the flow.

Fighting it is only going to cause angst. For every single one of us.

Vive le VRAIE Quebec libre. As in a state of true LIBERTYfor every single citizen.
