It's a few years I've been reading about Canada and other nations handing over matters of health during a declared emergency over to organizations like the World Health Organization.
In observing the last two years, it's very hard not to wonder if this is in fact what happened. The swift coordination by countries imposing lockdowns that were clearly in violation of respective Charters and Constitutions gave this impression.
Digging in we find very odd treaties have been signed. Particularly the obscure International Health Regulations treaty. And then came this stunning and troubling admission in Australia where none of this is actually about health but about following treaty obligations.
From the Canadian government website:
"In 2005, the Public Health Agency of Canada was designated as the National IHR Focal Point for Canada and is responsible to coordinate the implementation of the IHR on behalf of the Government of Canada. The National IHR Focal Point supports 24/7 communications between Canadian public health authorities, the WHO and its regional office the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), and other countries."
"Canada’s border measures are informed by obligations under the International Health Regulations (IHR). The IHR is an instrument of international law that is legally binding on 196 countries to limit the spread of health risks while preventing unwarranted travel and trade restrictions. Recognizing the IHR, Canada cannot impose health-related travel restrictions except in situations of public health emergencies (such as COVID-19). When doing so, Canada must recognize the rights of travellers concerning treatment of personal data, informed consent and non-discrimination,” the report reads."
The treaty itself isn't the problem - though we can question why we need one in the first place. Justin Trudeau us. He flatly is also abusing this treaty as well as our own laws.
The W.H.O. perhaps can issue a statement on this.
